It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas so we've gone all festive for this week's five frugal things post...1) Master Frugal has asked us to buy him for Christmas is an Xbox game and whilst I have no problem buying it for him for Christmas, I did ask him if he had any old games that he didn't play on anymore that I could take back to get it a bit cheaper. At this age, with only two presents on his wishlist, he knows he's getting it so I don't feel like I ruined a surprise of anything and the games he gave me to take back meant that I bought the game for just £8 which just means he gets … [Read more...]

Fifty Ways to have a frugal but fun Christmas….
You honestly don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great Christmas so I thought that I'd share with you 50 ways that you can have an amazing Christmas on a budget with you today!Every year I hear about the amount of money people spend and read stories of people who are still paying off their Christmas debt halfway to next Christmas and it makes me sad. Not sad because of how much is money is actually spent because I totally get people who spend more than they probably should (I may occasionally be guilty of this) and ultimately, it's their money to spend how they want. No, … [Read more...]
Candy Cane Spoons….
I am so pleased with the way my candy cane spoons turned out! It's so rare that something I make actually turns out looking the way I pictured it in my head but these cute little spoons not only did that, they actually looked even better than I imagined! How to make Candy Cane Spoons I bought my spoon mould from Amazon (similar here) and my candy canes are just from Morrisons although I've had a bit of a nightmare getting red and white striped ones as Asda had none in and Sainsburys have a green stripe as well as a red one which I didn't want.Preheat your oven to about 160 c.The … [Read more...]
Feed your Family for a Fiver….
Do you think you could feed a family of four a three course meal for under five pounds? Here's my menu....Starter - Potato skins with garlic mayo (15p) I really love potato skins as a starter when we go out for a meal but it never occurred to me just how frugal it was for the restaurant serving it as the dish is literally made with potato peelings that would otherwise be thrown in the bin!I was planning to do mashed potato for our main course so I used a sharp knife to peel the potatoes which meant I got a little more potato on the peeling if that makes sense. ;-) I then just … [Read more...]
What we ate in a week {November 2017}….
I thought I might start a new monthly series on the blog called 'What we ate in a week' which is, as the title would suggest a post about the food we ate in a week! ;-)My plan is to start writing this post the Monday before you read it each month and simply update it each night with a photo of what we had for our tea that day so let's give it a go.... MondayWe made some really quick and easy fajitas for tea tonight with some sliced yellow and green peppers and red onion gently fried in a little olive oil with two chicken breasts that I remembered to get out of the freezer last … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {17 November 2017}….
1) Miss Frugal's phone bill with Giff Gaff is getting cheaper every month! When we were with EE she was running out of data (on a 4GB a month plan) within the first two weeks of the month. We switched to Giff Gaff and went with the £20 a month unlimited package with is 6GB or superfast data and unlimited 3G data after that's gone and thought that would do us. We told her to always connect to wifi when she could and to be sensible with her usage when she wasn't on wifi (no videos etc) and would you believe it? She actually listened! After two months we dropped the package down to the 4GB … [Read more...]
