I can't imagine what it must be like to not have enough money to feed my children and luckily, that's not something that I've ever had to worry about.Lots of families across the UK aren't that lucky though and it makes me sad to read that between the 1st April 2017 and the 31st March 2018, The Trussell Trust’s foodbank network distributed a massive 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis across the UK which is a 13% increase on the previous year. That's just such a sad statistic - to think that in 2018 there are so many families who genuinely just can't afford to … [Read more...]

My Festival of Thrift Thrifty Haul 2018….
It's that time of year again! The Festival of Thrift is an annual festival held in the North East to celebrate sustainable living and for the last five years that I've been going, it's absolutely been my favourite day of the year.I love everything about it although it's really hard to describe it to people who've never been and I can never quite put into words what it is that I love about this event. The brochure says that it's 'a big weekend of sustainable arts, music, fashion, food, entertainment, shopping, demos, workshops & more' which pretty much sums it up to be … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {31 August 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, I do want to say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons - we're frugal so we can afford to do nice things together. We were on holiday for half the week this week so my … [Read more...]

A quick life update (and a new blog) from me….
I don't think it's much of a secret that I've struggled a little bit these last few months.Admittedly, I've had a fair bit to cope with but it's fair to say that I probably haven't handled things as well as I could have done and trying to carry on like I did when my Dad died without stopping to grieve just got me to a place where I was exhausted, snappy with everyone I love and behind with just about everything in my life.Things are much better now so I thought I'd give you a little bit of an update...I kept so busy after my Dad died that my house was spotless, I had a good … [Read more...]
That was…. June!
At the end of the year last year I decided that it would be a nice idea to do a bit of a round-up of what we'd been up to at the end of every month. I managed the first few months with no problem but I missed April and May after losing my Dad and another much-loved family member. We spent that time coming together as a family and trying to get over our losses and if I'm honest, we (especially me) were a little bit broken and at times, just getting through the days felt like a huge achievement. We had to make a conscious effort to spend time together because at first, it was too easy to … [Read more...]
