We're huge fans of rail travel and over the years, I've shared so many of our train journeys with you. Last weekend was one of my favourite train journeys yet...Miss Frugal and I, along with one of her friends, decided to have a bit of a cheeky Christmas shopping day in London to mark the start of December. The men of the house decided that a shopping day in London was definitely not something they wanted to do so they stayed at home and did boy stuff (not sure what but it involved football, gaming and McDonalds). You might think we were a bit mad braving London on the first weekend … [Read more...]

Fifty Ways to have a frugal but fun Christmas….
You honestly don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great Christmas so I thought that I'd share with you 50 ways that you can have an amazing Christmas on a budget with you today!Every year I hear about the amount of money people spend and read stories of people who are still paying off their Christmas debt halfway to next Christmas and it makes me sad. Not sad because of how much is money is actually spent because I totally get people who spend more than they probably should (I may occasionally be guilty of this) and ultimately, it's their money to spend how they want. No, … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {17 November 2017}….
1) Miss Frugal's phone bill with Giff Gaff is getting cheaper every month! When we were with EE she was running out of data (on a 4GB a month plan) within the first two weeks of the month. We switched to Giff Gaff and went with the £20 a month unlimited package with is 6GB or superfast data and unlimited 3G data after that's gone and thought that would do us. We told her to always connect to wifi when she could and to be sensible with her usage when she wasn't on wifi (no videos etc) and would you believe it? She actually listened! After two months we dropped the package down to the 4GB … [Read more...]

I'd been googling for the last week so whilst I had definite plans for what we were going to be doing, I had no intention of … [Read more...]
How to make a handbag from a skirt or a pair of shorts….
You probably all know by now that I'm handbag mad so today's tutorial on how to make a handbag from a skirt or a pair of shorts was just up my street!I first saw a more complicated version of this idea to make a handbag from a skirt a good few months ago on Pinterest and decided to have a go at making a more simplified version of my own. I went on a charity shop expedition to search for what I was after and got everything in one trip for a total of £3.50. Then I completely forgot about it after I tidied the things I'd bought away into the black hole that is my 'must make for the … [Read more...]
