I'm quite a tolerant person and I understand that people, especially children, aren't perfect. We all make mistakes and to me, it's really important that we acknowledge when we make a mistake and that we apologise to anyone our mistake has affected.I've always tried to teach the kids that it's not just the saying sorry that matters because, let's face it, anyone can say the word sorry. That's not hard at all (unless you're Mr Frugal), is it?What is hard is acting like you're sorry an showing the person you're apologising to that you really mean it.As the parent of a teenager and … [Read more...]

Eleven ways to pack more storage into your home….
I love my house but there's no getting away from the fact that we have hardly any storage space which causes a problem when you have a family of four who seem to have a lot of 'stuff'.The house itself isn't tiny although it is on the small side - we bought a smaller house than we could have afforded at the time because we wanted to have money to spend on having fun with the kids. I know that's totally the opposite to what they say you should do but the difference in mortgage payments between this and the larger house we almost bought was quite a lot and we really wanted to just enjoy the … [Read more...]
Why I create every day….
Do you consider yourself to be a creative person?Until last year, bearing in mind the fact that I see myself as the world's worst crafter, my answer to that question would have been a resounding NO!But when I was off work ill, I watched the video below by Emily Quinton over at Makelight and I felt inspired enough that I decided that I was going to make some time every day to create something - no matter how small. At this point, I already knew how much I loved photography but I realised that I always took photos for a purpose, whether it was for here on the blog, to record a … [Read more...]
Slimming World on a Budget {Week 3}….
So, rather embarrassingly, my last Slimming World update was way back at the end of January and I don't have too much more to report since then as I've struggled more than I expected. My first struggle was that I was getting stomach cramps on about day 2 or 3 each time I tried it for some reason so I gave up each time. My specialist mentioned that Slimming World may not be the best diet for me to follow as it doesn't necessarily encourage the best eating habits ( apparently the 'free' foods can encourage over eating of the wrong foods) and he suggested I give Weight Watchers points system … [Read more...]
Travel – an enriching experience or a waste of money?
Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer!I can't remember where I first read this travel quote (it was probably a Facebook meme to be honest) but the words really stuck with me.We're not the sort of people who can sit on a sunbed all day (well, Miss Frugal is but the rest of us aren't) and we don't even like the heat that much as we all burn so quickly so we've mostly holidayed in the UK over the last five or six years. There's so many places to visit and things to see and do here in the UK that we haven't seen nearly as much as we'd like to see yet but even … [Read more...]
Life’s too short – use your good stuff….
A couple of years ago someone bought me an a very expensive looking Jo Malone candle in my favourite scent and I loved it. I actually loved it that much that I didn't open it as I didn't want to 'waste' it. ;-)The candle sat, still in it's wrapper in my little ensuite bathroom where I eventually kind of just forgot it was there because it was like part of the furniture in there. Until a couple of weeks ago when I was giving the bathroom a mini makeover and I noticed the wrapper had gotten dusty so I actually got my damp microfibre cloth and dusted the box!!!Mid way through this … [Read more...]
