Do you always have some month left over at the end of your money?(I've loved that phrase ever since I saw it on a fridge magnet in Blackpool a few years ago)If, like lots of us, your money seems to run out before the end of the month but you know that you should still have some money left according to your monthly budget, then you need to figure out where your money is actually going. For me, it used to be things like my weekly treat at Costa when I did my food shopping and the odd magazine here and there that I never thought much of. When I was trying to figure out why I didn't … [Read more...]

Dear lovely readers,By the time you read this, my laptop will have long since been turned off and I'll be having a peaceful family Christmas with my amazing family - that is as long as I remember where I've hidden all the presents and I don't burn Christmas dinner! There is one thing I want to do before I switch off for Christmas though, I want to say a huge Merry Christmas and thank you to all of you lovely readers who have shared 2016 with me.I'm not going to lie, it's been a difficult year with me being ill for a lot of the year but you've put up with my whinging and moaning and … [Read more...]
Some much needed fun at the beach….
I can't believe it's Christmas next week!I haven't been feeling particularly festive if I'm honest but I think that's because, since my operation in October, we haven't really done very much outside of the house together. Even our annual Christmas days out have been either cancelled or the kids have gone with our friends instead of us which has made me sad because I love the things we do at this time of year more than any other.I'm planning on going back to work in a couple of weeks because I feel like life's been on hold for most of this year and it frustrates me. I'm about 75% me … [Read more...]
Wanderlust (and a gift guide for the wannabe traveller)….
I know you're all in full on Christmas planning mode but this morning I've been feeling a bit meh so I've been thinking about some plans we've made for 2017 which I hope is a much better year for us than this year has been.Because I haven't been well for much of the year, we've had to have an enforced slow and relaxed (AKA boring and dull) second half of the year. There's been so many plans that I've had to cancel and so many lovely experiences that we've had to say no to because they were just too much for me to manage. I'm almost better now though and will be back at work very soon I … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {2nd December 2016}….
1) I've had soup for lunch every day this week and thanks to some supermarket bargains, it's cost me less than a pound for the whole week's worth of lunches. I bought a pack of veg soup mix reduced from £1.25 to 45p on Monday morning which did Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for me and on Wednesday night I bought some reduced sweet potatoes which I popped in the soup maker with some butternut squash from the freezer and voila, Thursday and Friday's lunches sorted. I don't get bored of soup as it's delicious in the soup maker and it's so simple to make with hardly any preparation or cleaning … [Read more...]
