First of all, I just want to put it out there that I paid for our holiday to the Vrissaki Beach Hotel and until I got home and thought about what a great time we'd had, I had no intention of reviewing our stay or the hotel itself so this might seem like a bit of an odd review as I probably don't have photos to match everything that I'm going to say! ;-)(Can you tell I'm not a travel blogger?)We booked our holiday to the Vrissaki Beach Hotel in Protaras through First Choice holidays and paid £546 in total for the two of us for four nights. I didn't specifically want to go to Cyprus … [Read more...]

Strawberry lemonade Kool Aid cupcakes!….
We have a shop near us that sells American sweets and a couple of weeks ago, there was much excitement from the kids (and maybe me) when they started to stock Kool Aid drinks sachets. They weren't expensive so we stocked up on some flavours thinking we'd be back for more in no time - we bought strawberry lemonade, grape, pineapple, lemonade and one I can't remember the flavour of but I know it was bright green when we made it up.When we started to make the first one I was more than a little horrified at the amount of sugar you have to put in! For a small sachet of Kool Aid … [Read more...]
Can a book really change your life?
Before I got my Kindle, I used to love nothing more than wandering around the local charity shops looking for new (to me) books to read. I'd read them and then hang on to the books I loved because I would often re-read favourite books. The problem was that my favourite books pile ended up overtaking the bookshelf and eventually a big corner of the garage too.So when Mr Frugal presented me with a Kindle as a gift one day, I was a little bit disappointed that he'd wasted his money as I knew I'd never be able to enjoy reading a book on it. He'd bought me it almost as soon as it came out, more … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {15th April 2016}….
1) On Tuesday we decided to have lazy tea instead of what we had planned so we used some naan breads from the freezer that I'd bought for 9p, a pathetic looking green pepper, the last of the leftover ham from our Sunday dinner and some pepperoni that Mr Frugal bought on his way home from work to make some cheap but very delicious pizzas.Even the cheese was frugal as I'd bought a bag of pizza cheese a while ago and portioned it up to pizza sizes for the freezer. Miss Frugal isn't a cheese fan usually but she does like pizza cheese and she loves the odd homemade pizza so I try to always … [Read more...]
Subscription Boxes – Value for Money or a Waste of Money?
I'm not sure how I feel about these subscription boxes that are popping up all over the place. You know the ones I mean, don't you? The ones where you pay a monthly charge and get a box filled with random products delivered to your door each month. On the face of it they're excellent value because the products you get are generally worth a fair amount more than you pay for the box itself but in reality, if they're products that you wouldn't have bought anyway then that's not good value at all.It wouldn't be very frugal of me not to point out that paying £10 for a box of goodies worth … [Read more...]
How to make shabby chic wall art and a menu planner using wallpaper samples….
One of the things I was planning to do when I did my living room makeover last weekend was to get some large ornate style photo frames and frame some wallpaper samples rather than wallpapering a whole wall. I was a bit disappointed that I never managed to do this as I couldn't find the style frames that I was looking (I'm still on the lookout though) but today I have done something similar in my kitchen and I think it looks brilliant.I bought the frames from Ikea this afternoon and they're cost £2 for the smaller frames and £4 for the larger one. These frames are great for the … [Read more...]
