Both of my children have beautiful red hair....They've always loved the colour of their hair and to my knowledge, until this week nothing negative has ever really been said to them about their hair colour. Just the opposite in fact, they often get stopped by people who tell them how lovely it is.We've had a few incidents like this and this - but I don't really think they're the same as they weren't outright nasty comments made to their faces like we've experienced this week.I took them into town as I had a problem with my mobile phone and had to spend over an hour in the shop … [Read more...]

Family friendly Frugal Meals – Lemon Turkey Pappadelle Pasta….
I haven't posted my meal plan for a few weeks as it's been a bit samey samey lately! In fact, most weeks I could just copy and paste the previous weeks plan and change the days around a bit.I'm not making excuses but I leave for work at 7.20 in the morning, dropping the kids off at breakfast club for 7.30. I then finish work at 2.30 and rush to get them from school and get in about 3.15, so by the time I get home, I just want to cook something easy that I know everyone will enjoy which is why I stick to the same meals. But, I'm not only bored with cooking the same meals now, I suspect … [Read more...]
The Ginger Incident….
You might remember that a few weeks ago we had our first broken heart when Master Frugal was dumped by his girlfriend in favour of someone who's apparently cuter than him! He was most concerned that he was going to be single forever and had a whole day of being miserable before finding himself another girlfriend - as you do when you're seven. They had a lovely week or so together until yesterday, when his new girlfriend told him that she didn't want a boyfriend any more. She announced at Breakfast Club that all boys are annoying and she's going to just play with girls from now on!He … [Read more...]
The Frugal Family on Tour with Stena Line….
A few weeks ago, I opened an e mail to find a lovely invitation from Stena Line to travel on one of their ferries as part of their National Ferry Fortnight celebrations. We hope you’ll agree that for families with children, ferry travel can turn a typically stressful journey into a fun and pleasurable one for all involved. With lots of room to roam and plenty of distractions (including the amazing view of the open sea!), travelling on Stena Line is fun for the entire family. How could I not say yes to a promise like that? The only weekend we could all get time off together was the weekend … [Read more...]
Designer Labels – a waste of money or worth every penny….
I've had a bit of an up and down week this week but one lovely thing did happen at work the other day completely out of the blue - I received a long service award as I've worked with the same company for 10 years.I was given a lovely framed certificate thanking me for my work, along with a silver engraved keyring, a silver photo holder and a small catalogue of gifts to choose from. The gifts were really impressive (to me anyway) - matching his and hers Armani watches, a Tissot watch, a Radley Cheadle bag and a Links of London Sweetie bracelet among other things.I decided to go for the … [Read more...]
