You may (or may not) remember the last time I posted my weekly photo round-up a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I was very conscious that a lot of the things that we were doing together were indoors and at home. I've really tried to make more of an effort in the last two weeks to get out and about a bit more - despite the very cold March weather we're seeing at the moment! Top row:We were downstairs in Primark when we found a big pile of life size One Direction cardboard cutouts tucked out of the way - we couldn't resist standing them up and having a pose with them. Master … [Read more...]

Chocolate Gingerbread Christmas trees….
We didn't get around to make a Gingerbread house this year which is a shame as we loved making last years but we did make something almost as good this morning - Chocolate Gingerbread Christmas trees!Miss Frugal had great fun making the biscuits and kneading the dough and then Master Frugal had even more fun icing them! They smell and taste delicious and would be great hung on the Christmas tree if only I'd remembered to poke little holes in the top before I cooked them.Chocolate Gingerbread Christmas trees 125g butter 85g brown sugar 1 egg yolk 4 tablespoons golden … [Read more...]
A not very Christmassy ranty post….
Both of my children have beautiful red hair....They've always loved the colour of their hair and to my knowledge, until this week nothing negative has ever really been said to them about their hair colour. Just the opposite in fact, they often get stopped by people who tell them how lovely it is.We've had a few incidents like this and this - but I don't really think they're the same as they weren't outright nasty comments made to their faces like we've experienced this week.I took them into town as I had a problem with my mobile phone and had to spend over an hour in the shop … [Read more...]

Family friendly Frugal Meals – Lemon Turkey Pappadelle Pasta….
I haven't posted my meal plan for a few weeks as it's been a bit samey samey lately! In fact, most weeks I could just copy and paste the previous weeks plan and change the days around a bit.I'm not making excuses but I leave for work at 7.20 in the morning, dropping the kids off at breakfast club for 7.30. I then finish work at 2.30 and rush to get them from school and get in about 3.15, so by the time I get home, I just want to cook something easy that I know everyone will enjoy which is why I stick to the same meals. But, I'm not only bored with cooking the same meals now, I suspect … [Read more...]
The Ginger Incident….
You might remember that a few weeks ago we had our first broken heart when Master Frugal was dumped by his girlfriend in favour of someone who's apparently cuter than him! He was most concerned that he was going to be single forever and had a whole day of being miserable before finding himself another girlfriend - as you do when you're seven. They had a lovely week or so together until yesterday, when his new girlfriend told him that she didn't want a boyfriend any more. She announced at Breakfast Club that all boys are annoying and she's going to just play with girls from now on!He … [Read more...]
