Back in January, I shared a post that I called 35 ways to slow down and simplify your life. I realise now that sharing so many ways to slow down and simplify life could be a bit counter-productive so I thought I’d dial it down a bit and share the five most important (to me) ways that are easy to get started with…
With the ever-growing demand to be busy in life, it’s no wonder more and more people are feeling overwhelmed. Stress has taken over people in society and it’s unacceptable. Life simply seems too busy sometimes and then everything seems to get out of control. While life will forever be challenging and stress will overcome us, there are ways you can learn how to slow down and simplify your life. Today I am sharing a few tips that will help you slow down and simplify your life so that you feel more relaxed and happier on a regular basis.
How to slow down and simplify life…
Create a Positive Routine
When you start your day off with a positive routine in place, it sets the tone for the remainder of your day. Think about getting the kids ready for school, how chaotic that can be at times. When you and your kids start your day off chaotically, it’s without question the rest of the day will be chaotic and stressful. The first step to slow down and simplify your life is to create a positive routine that you follow through with every day.
Stop Complaining
The next step to simplifying your life is to stop complaining. Sure we all have things that suck during our day to day life but learn to stop complaining about it. Instead of complaining about what’s going wrong or your stress level is too high, seek to find resolve. Learn to focus on a solution to the problem and push forward with making a positive change for whatever has you complaining so much. This will help you to feel peaceful internally and assist in the full mission to slow down in life.
Set Simple Goals
Make a list of some positive goals you have in mind to complete. These can be as simple as watching a sunset or going for a daily walk. Set some business and personal goals that you achieve on a weekly basis. These will help keep you on track, slowing down and taking time to focus on moments that truly matter amidst the busyness of life. You can also call this dream setting, in a way, because the simple goals you are to set with this step should be related to internal happiness versus financial success.
Learn to Say No
Lastly, you must feel confident in saying no sometimes. There’s nothing wrong with telling someone no to a task that you simply shouldn’t take on. Learn to stick with your positive routine, set simple goals and stop complaining, this will push you forward in being confident enough to decline any extra events or tasks that you know will be too much. Others may not like hearing the word no, but that’s not your problem, be confident in taking on only things that make you feel balanced.
There you have it, a few simple ways you can start to slow down and simplify your life without too much effort. There’s no reason to get stressed out about life and to follow societies lead in being busy.
