Even though I’ve not been too well for the last couple of weeks (just a virus that’s dragging on – nothing dramatic ;-)) we’ve still had another really lovely month with some great moments that have made me smile….
The first one I’m going to tell you about today is the text Miss Frugal got this morning from one of her friends as she was getting ready for a school visit to spend the days with some monks at a monastery. Her friends seems to have not read the letter too well as she woke up this morning gutted to find out she was going to visit monks and not monkeys! She only realised it was monks and not monkeys when she asked someone if they’d get to hold one while they were there and they pointed out that it wouldn’t be too appropriate if she did! I’m still laughing about it now.
(This is the only monkey photo I could find – it’s of Master Frugal a couple of years ago when he visited the monkey we’d adopted for him as a Birthday present. It makes me smile when I remember how excited and proud he was so I guess it’s a good photo to use for this post.)
I’ve finished a bit of a garden furniture makeover (more about that on Friday in my Five Frugal Things post) and I’ve managed to have five minutes out there the last couple of mornings before I got to work. It’s so lovely just to sit and relax completely before everyone gets up and the usual chaos of the day begins. I’m not the only one who loves sitting out there though – this little fella almost made me late for work as he was determined that he was staying put yesterday….
Master Frugal went on his school residential a couple of week’s ago and he had a brilliant time – he won an award for overcoming his fears and I had a little cry when I found out because there were some things that I fully expected him not to complete. He really pushed himself and he’s so proud of himself that he did which is just brilliant. This is him the night he got home – exhausted but very, very happy….
We treated ourself to a little fire basket for the back garden and it’s been so much fun – we’ve toasted marshmallows together as a family and Miss Frugal and I have sat out there while the boys have watched the football. It was only £19.99 in Argos and I can already tell that it’s going to be a great investment….
I love that the light nights and warmer weather have meant that we could get out on a night together after everyone’s done everything they need to do. We generally go to the beach where there’s a huge grassy area to play on and I’ve been sitting with the dog relaxing while everyone else plays football. 😉
The last thing I want to call out that’s made me happy this month is that when I was in bed one afternoon feeling not very good, Miss Frugal got busy and cleaned the house from top to bottom which was much needed as I hadn’t done any housework in days! I’m so proud of her and even though she does have the odd teen mood, she’s pretty awesome.
So there you have it, just a few of the things making me happy this month.
Let’s hope July is just as good!
