Snickers Cookie Dough Bars are Master Frugal’s new favourite treat – and he has almost as much fun making them as we all do eating them!
Over the last couple of week’s, Master Frugal has rediscovered his love of cooking (I mean, love could be a bit too strong here but he’s definitely enjoying it more again) and has been cooking tea a couple of nights a week since we started buying our weekly Hello Fresh box which comes with measured out ingredients and super clear step by step instructions.
The fact he successfully makes tea for us a few nights a week now has encouraged him to want to try and cook a few other little things – these Snickers Cookie Dough Bars are the best thing he’s made by far.
These amazing Snickers cookie dough bars are super easy to make and the kids will love them! Step 1: Add the crushed chocolate digestives to a medium mixing bowl. Mix in the melted butter and 3 tablespoons of the white sugar. Mix well. Line an 8x8 square pan (I use a silicone one which is so easy to get things out of) with parchment or wax paper and pack in FIRMLY into the pan. You may need to use the bottom of a measuring cup or glass to get a really firm base. Place in the fridge to set. Step 2: Using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, the remaining 3 tablespoons of white sugar and the salt until it's light and fluffy. Step 3: Mix in 3 tablespoons milk and vanilla. Step 4: Mix in the flour Step 5: Fold in about 75g of the chocolate chips and 2 of the chopped up Snickers. Step 6: Take the biscuit base out from the fridge and press your cookie dough mixture onto the top of the base. Step 7: Add remaining chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of milk to a microwave-safe bowl and heat on low power until melted, checking on it frequently and stirring each time you do. It burns really easily so keep a close eye and only heat in very short blasts. Step 8: Pour melted chocolate on top of cookie dough and sprinkle over the remaining Snickers. Step 9: Refrigerate for 1 hour. Cut into 16 squares and enjoy! I cut mine into 2-inch squares but you could even make them smaller so they're more bite-size than bar size.Snickers Cookie Dough Bars....

Notes
I feel like you could experiment loads with different chocolate bars here, I went with Snickers as they were on offer 3 for £1.20 but I can see all sorts working with this recipe. I bet Maltesers would be amazing and even a Cadbury’s Creme Egg would be super nice if you ask me.
