Bloomchic dresses have been popping up in my social media feeds for the last three or four months and more recently, I’ve been seeing reviews from influencers online. I really wanted to try the dresses for myself so I decided to buy a couple (keep reading for how I got myself some bargains) but they weren’t what I was expecting so I thought I’d share my own review with you today.
**Just putting it out there up front that this isn’t a review as such – I bought and paid for each dress myself **
Anyone who knows me will know that I love a good dress and now we’re moving into the Winter season, I thought I could do with a couple of good quality longer dresses in my wardrobe and these Bloomchic dresses looked like they fit the bill.
Looking at the adverts and the reviews, the dresses seem to be a really flattering fit around the bust area, have lovely length sleeves, a nice floaty skirt AND they have pockets! What more could you want in a dress?
These two dresses specifically caught my eye and because I’ve clicked on each one a couple of times trying to decide whether to buy them or not, they are the ones that keep popping up in my feeds which made me want them even more.
I have genuinely clicked on each one of these dresses a couple of times but I just couldn’t justify the high postage costs. I can’t remember what the actual postage costs are on the site but it was enough to put me off buying one of them and I didn’t want to buy two to qualify for the free shipping as that’s just too much to spend on dresses right now.
I have no idea why it took me so long to realise that I could probably pick up some pre-loved Bloomchic dresses on Vinted if I had a look but when I did, I was over the moon to find both of the above dresses on there from a seller who seemed to be selling brand new Bloomchic dresses in all sizes for much less than I’d pay directly on the website. I’m not sure if they’re affiliated with Bloomchic in some way as her user name includes the words Bloomchic but she definitely seems to be selling a wide range of their dresses and has different sizes available in each of the ones I picked.
So, I got the above two Bloomchic dresses for £30 including postage which feels like a much more reasonable price to pay!
I ordered them in a size 18 to make sure that they fit me around the bust area with it having the wrap style top as they can sometimes sit a bit funny on me so I thought bigger was better.
They came super quickly and I knew as soon as I opened them that I was going to love them!
They are a little bit thinner fabric than I expected from the pictures (probably just me) but they both still feel like really good quality dresses and when I tried them on, they were both perfect except for just one little thing – my boobs literally fall out of them!
What the pictures don’t show clearly is that there’s a concealed little fastener that can make the top of the dress as modest as the ones in the photos above when it’s fastened up or a little bit more booby if you undo it. The problem is that when I fasten it up, it doesn’t sit right on me, and when I wear it open I literally pop out of the top. I’d show you a photo but this is a family website. 😂
I’m not exaggerating at all when I say this! I have to wear a vest top underneath to make them wearable which isn’t a huge issue as I have one which sits perfectly with both dresses. I also have a cream v-necked jumper which looks good over the floral dress too so I can easily make them work but if I had my choice, I’d rather not have to wear something with them just to make them look decent.
The split in the floral dress goes a lot higher up my leg than I was expecting but honestly, that’s more because I have super short legs so it goes higher up than it would on others. I’ve coped OK with it when I’ve worn it so far but I did wear it last week when it was a bit windy and I’m now considering a few cheeky stitches
It makes me happier to know that I didn’t pay full price for the dresses but if I had, I would have seriously considered sending them back.
Oh, and the pockets? They’re amazing!
Here’s the link to the Bloomchic website if you want to have a look and see what you think but genuinely, I would pop onto Vinted and see what you can find there before paying full price for one. You might not be as lucky as me and find the dresses you want straight away but keep checking and one might pop up or you might find one you like even more.
