Last July I blogged about my back garden and our attempts at making our rocky patch of garden into a nice family garden. You can find the before picture here. Unfortunately, the after pictures are not much better yet!
The border area that I set aside for growing vegetables is all overgrown and I still haven’t got around to planting anything yet.
Also because it’s winter, my bins and recycling boxes are right in front of my patio doors – attractive or what?
So my plans for the nice Easter weekend are to try and get the garden into some sort of order. The first thing I’m going to do is sort out a better place for my bins and recycling boxes to go…. Imagine throwing open the patio doors on a beautiful sunny morning and being greeted by the fresh air and smell of eau de bin!
The next bit isn’t so easy though…. I might buy some more grass seed and scatter that on the bare bits but I am at a loss on how to flatten the lawn and get rid of the bumpy bits – Ideas on the back of a postcard please 😉
I am going to weed my potential vegetable area and try to get some good quality soil from somewhere so I can learn how to grow vegetables.
I want to grow my own vegetables for several reasons, obviousy there’s the cost factor and also the taste factor (starting to sound like Simon Cowell now lol) but also I remember reading a while ago that one of the celebrity chefs, might have been Jamie or Gordon, wanted their kids to learn to grow their own fruit and veg so they learn that it doesn’t just magically appear on a supemarket shelf. I think that’s a really good idea and I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun learning together.
Thats my Bank Holiday mission…Lets hope this time I can share some really nice ‘after’ pictures.
