I don’t think I’ve ever shared my super easy waffle recipe with you, have I?
Waffles are perfect weekend for a weekend brunch but when I first got my waffle maker, lots of the recipes I could find online needed fancy ingredients like buttermilk (that’s fancy to us ) which was never going to happen in this house.
My super easy waffle recipe is pretty basic in comparison to many that you’ll find online but to me, that’s the beauty of it – it’s so simple and uses things that most of us have in the house so you can just make it whenever you feel like it. And just because it’s basic and simple doesn’t mean that they’re not as tasty as the fancy ones – the waffles always taste AMAZING!
In case you’re interested, the waffle maker that I have is an old Sage one which I bought from John Lewis years ago just because I had some vouchers to use up. It was a total impulse buy as I was planning to buy sensible towels and mugs but I saw this and decided I’d get it seeing as I was spending vouchers rather than cash. So, it wasn’t exactly a considered purchase but actually, it was a great buy as we use it loads – I even make omelettes in it sometimes.
I can’t find this one online anywhere and although I’d absolutely recommend a Sage one, I’m not convinced anyone would get their money’s worth out of the current model which is £180 unless they really really really enjoy waffles. I did find a huge choice of silicone waffle moulds on Amazon for anywhere from a couple of pounds upwards so you don’t need to spend a fortune on an all-singing, all-dancing waffle maker to make these yummy waffles!

Super Easy Waffle Recipe
This super easy waffle maker is perfect whether you're cooking it in the oven or in a waffle maker. It's really easy to make and tastes amazing!
This makes 6 whole circle waffles or 24 quarters in my waffle maker.
Ingredients
- 250g plain flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 tsp sugar
- 3 eggs
- 400ml milk
- 100g butter
- A capful of vanilla essence {optional}
Instructions
- Oven baking - preheat the oven to 200 c / Waffler maker - switch on to a high setting.
- Gently mix together the flour, sugar and baking powder in a bowl - I have a large jug that I use so its easy to pour when I'm at that stage!
- Melt the butter and add to the milk and the vanilla essence in a separate bowl/jug.
- Add the eggs to the milk and butter and give it a good whisk so they're all combined.
- Make a well in the flour mix and pour in the milk mix.
- Whisk it all together - don't tell anyone but I usually just use my hand mixer for speed.
- Oven baking - pop in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until it's starting to turn a lovely golden colour. Waffler maker - If you're using you're waffle maker then it usually takes around 5 minutes.
Notes
When I first got our waffle maker, I thought you needed a degree to be able to get the waffles out without them sticking but I think I've mastered it:
- Hotter is better so use a hot temperature.
- If your mix feels a bit watery, add in some more flour.
- Mine tells me when they should be cooked but I leave them 1-2 minutes after that point.
And for the care of your waffle maker, don't use oil spray on the waffle irons and only use plastic utensils to remove the cooked waffles.
