You know how I've said before that you should tailor your meal plan to what you have in your cupboards and any bargains that you find when you go shopping? Well this week's meal plan is the perfect example of that. I went shopping armed with my meal plan shopping list, found lots of bargains and ended up changing my plan completely. I bought four packs of diced chicken, reduced from £3.89 to 78p each along with some cocktail sausages reduced from £1.00 to 25p and some naan breads reduced to 19p. I also managed to get a big pack of Basa fish fillets for £2.95 so I've had a quick rethink … [Read more...]
Packed Lunch Ideas….
When Miss Frugal started 'big' school she didn't want to take a packed lunch as most of her friends were going to be on school dinners and the people on packed lunches have to sit on separate tables (what's that all about?) so we gave in and paid the £1.85 a day for her to have school dinners. She came home every night and told us excitedly what she'd had and every night I'd tell her that some grated carrots and cheese with a wrap followed by a small cookie was not enough for dinner but the next day she'd have exactly the same thing again! Homemade Honey Cake….
Last week we were lucky to receive some lovely honey from Rowse Honey, it came in a lovely box with some gorgeous honey cupcakes which only just lasted long enough for me to take a photo....The honey lasted slightly longer though, long enough for us to make a lovely honey cake yesterday afternoon in fact. Honey cake is our favourite type of cake to make - the shove it all in a bowl and mix type! The end results were lovely and it's actually a very grown up kind of cake (unless you spread chocolate spread on it like we did ;-)Honey Cake100g/4 oz butter or margarine 2 tbsp … [Read more...]
