I think I may have just secured the Mother of the Year Award, for Miss Frugal's Christmas party at school tomorrow I've made chocolate fairy cakes with Nutella icing. They looked very Domestic Goddess-like until I let her loose with the sprinkles!Because I'm a lovely person, I'm even going to share the recipe with you so you can impress your kids too....Nutella Frosting 250g icing sugar 80g butter / margarine 75ml milk 90g Nutella (slighly melted - 30 seconds in the microwave does the trick)Because I'm lazy, I used an electric whisk to mix the butter and the icing sugar into a … [Read more...]
Exploding Cupboards and Ice Cream Cupcakes….
Do anyone else's kitchen cupboards look like a corner shop had exploded in them? Mine are in a right mess so my mission today is to sort them out and find ways to use up all the odd bits and bobs that I seem to have accrued. The first thing I came across was half a packet of those flat ice cream cones and I was tempted to just throw them out as we've had them for ages but then I remembered seeing some cupcakes on sale somehere that were baked in these type of cones so.... I though I would have a go.I used my own version of a red velvet cupcake mix which Miss Frugal thought was really … [Read more...]

Mmmm Honey….
We had a car boot sale on Sunday to make some extra pennies for our fortnight off (2 sleeps people, 2 sleeps). It went pretty well actually, we made about £80 after paying to get in and taking into account the batch of designer clothes I bought for Miss Frugal. The day started off cloudy and overcast so I never took any sun tan lotion with us but by the end of the morning it was red hot so the poor kids had to stay in one spot in the shade for most of the morning. When we got home, we used the last of our water bombs to have a water fight to cool off. What is it about kids and … [Read more...]
Miss Frugal Cooks Tea….
Miss Frugal came home yesterday dying to try out the recipe she had learned that day in her 'fun with food' class at school. She's really enjoying the classes and after her Cartwheel Sandwiches turned out to be such a success last week, I decided to let her show us how to make pasta salad by cooking it for us all for tea. First of all you cook and cool some pasta and put it into a big bowl. Chop up some cucumber, tomato and red onion and add them to the bowl. Add some tinned sweetcorn and some cooked ham.Mix it all together.Serve and eat.It was actually really nice and it's so … [Read more...]
