I originally posted this a year ago today but seeing as it's getting close to the big day, I thought I'd repost it for you ;-) We've just made our reindeer dust ready for Christmas Eve. If you are planning to make reindeer dust, please, please don't use normal glitter as birds and other wildlife might try to eat it and it can make them ill.The mixture is about as easy as it gets, there's not really any set measures but I used about a mugful of oats (Tesco Value 42p).I had some pink cooking glitter left over from Miss Frugal's Birthday cake so I was just going to use that until … [Read more...]
Boys will be boys (or girls)….
Mr Frugal and I have an ongoing battle of sorts about Master Frugal and his love of his sister's toys. Personally I think it's only natural that he wants to play with Miss Frugal's toys but Mr Frugal encourages him to play only with his own toys and tries to stop him from playing with what he sees as 'girly' toys. For example, I'm quite happy to go for a walk with the kids both pushing pushchairs with dolls in them but Mr Frugal wouldn't come with us if I let them do this! He thinks that girls should play with dolls and dress up and that boys should play with guns and cars and he … [Read more...]
Mmmm McDonalds….
McDonalds? Do you love it or hate it?I must admit that I'm a fan. Some of my earliest memories are from when I used to go down town every Saturday with my mam and my brother, my mam used to like to trawl the charity shops looking for bargains (she always found them aswell) and by the end of the afternoon me and my brother were sick of following her around and she was tired from all her bargain hunting so we stopped in the newly opened McDonalds for a drink. To this day, the smell of McDonalds reminds me of shopping with my mam ;-)Fast forward 20 (ish) years and McDonalds is now a … [Read more...]
Who wears the trousers in your house….
When I was younger I had a really simple view of what life was going to be like when I grew up, I was going to meet the man of my dreams, have a huge white wedding, produce several very well behaved children and give up work while my well paid husband supported me. However, as with lots of childhood dreams, it didn't quite turn out that way, although I was lucky enough to find the almost perfect man!Mr Frugal works really hard, often starting at 4am but he's far from being well paid bless him. I have a pretty well paid job and earn almost double what he does, I work full time hours over … [Read more...]
Happy Easter….
We've had a brilliant day today, which is a relief because at midnight last night I was downstairs with Master Frugal throwing up everywhere. I think he must have just eaten too much chocolate but last night I thought he might have had that stomach bug that's going around so I was really relieved when he got up this morning right as rain.As the weather looked OK, we decided to go to Ormesby Hall for the Cadbury's Easter Egg Hunt this afternoon. We had to find nine pictures of Easter eggs around the gardens and the woods. We found a few other things in the woods like this owl … [Read more...]
Birthday Party Blues….
Master Frugal is much happier at school lately, When I picked him up from school today, his teacher pulled me to one side and said that he is more like his old self now - he's more sure of himself and is joining in with things a lot more. I am so relieved because even though I know that it can be a big shock to some youngsters moving from nursery to full time school, I hated to think that he wasn't happy at school. It's his fifth birthday in a couple of weeks, I've booked him a birthday party at the Wacky Warehouse. I was going to have a nice frugal … [Read more...]
