Has anyone noticed that Cadbury's Cream Eggs are in the shops again.... How mad is that? The decorations have just come down and the kids are picking out their Easter eggs!Anyway moving swiftly on, Master Frugal is still hobbling around feeling sorry for himself. We took him back to the hospital yesterday and they have redressed his poorly foot and told us to go back again tomorrow for a further assessment. The nurse said that she 'thinks' his toenail will grow back!I hate feet, let alone a foot with a toenail missing, I hope it grows back quick.Miss Frugal has kindly taken a photo of the … [Read more...]
Homemade Macaroni Cheese….
I have just made macaroni cheese from scratch for the first time and everyone (even Master Frugal) loved it! That doesn't happen often in this house.I am feeling like a real Domestic Goddess at the moment, although I'm sure that won't last long as I have loads of jobs to do before the kids go to bed. Here's my recipe:300g (ish) Macaroni800ml Milk50g Butter50g Plain flour300g Grated CheeseHamWhile you are cooking the macaroni in one pan, melt the butter in another. Cotton Wool Snowman….
I have been promising the kids for ages that we will make cotton wool snowmen and I finally ran out of excuses today so we now have three cotton wool snowmen sat on our living room window...They're simple but messy to make. We used a toilet roll for each snowman and using PVA glue we covered them with cotton wool. We cut out a circle of card and covered that in cotton wool as well and attached it to the toilet roll by cutting two slits in the toilet roll and sliding the head into the slits. The kids then cut out their hats, faces and buttons anf finally we stuck them in a cotton wool covered … [Read more...]

Add a star at the top and voila, a handy tree to hang. Now on to the cotton wool snowmen!!! … [Read more...]

Salt Dough Decorations….
After watching Kirsty's homemade Christmas last week i felt inspired to make some salt dough decorations of our own. Now before we started I had my usual Domestic Goddess visions where I pictured our decorations as stunning works of art! As usual with my visions - the results were nothing like I hoped but we had fun making them so it was well worth it.The dough mix is so simple. All you do is mix half a cup of salt and a whole cup of flour and then slowly add one whole cup of water to the mix. You (or the kids) need to then knead the mix for 10 minutes - don't miss this stage out as … [Read more...]
