How typical is this, after a weekend of rain and hailstones the sun finally decides to pay us a visit on the day that Mr Frugal goes back to work! The weather was so bad that I didn't get chance to do my back garden over the weekend as planned so I thought I would have a go this afternoon while the sun is shining.I've already tidied the bins up and sorted the recycling boxes out, they are now hiding around the side of the house which I am sure Mr Frugal will have a whinge about as its about 10 foot further to walk to put the rubbish in the bin. Stage 2 of the Garden Transformation….
Last July I blogged about my back garden and our attempts at making our rocky patch of garden into a nice family garden. You can find the before picture here. Unfortunately, the after pictures are not much better yet!The grass that we grew is all patchy and a bit bumpy and we still don't have a fence at the back, although we do have one at each side now.The border area that I set aside for growing vegetables is all overgrown and I still haven't got around to planting anything yet.Also because it's winter, my bins and recycling boxes are right in front of my patio doors - … [Read more...]
Transforming our back garden….
We moved into a new build house a few months ago and were a bit annoyed to find out that the builders, Persimmon, didn’t include turf in the back garden. (It also didn’t include an oven but thats a whole other story!)Honestly though we didn’t think it would be that expensive to get someone in to do it after we had moved in so we decided not to pay the £450 that they were charging to do it for us.After we moved in, we asked a few local landscape gardeners to come and give us a few quotes, the cheapest of the three was £850.
