It was my birthday yesterday and I had a lovely day, starting with being woken up at seven o clock with a big kiss from Master Frugal, 'Happy Valentines Day Mummy'. The he proceeded to paper cut me to death by waving my card all over until I sat up to open it.The kids both made me lovely cards and bought me the Michael Buble CD and Mr Frugal is going to take me shopping at the weekend for my pressie off him.Mr Frugal even made me how own version of a frugal birthday cake.... He's not very domesticated so I'm actually very impressed that he didn't just go out and buy a ready made … [Read more...]
Tea – Miss Frugal Style….
Last week Miss Frugal announced that she was ready to cook us a meal. At first, I wasn't quite sure whether this was a good idea or not but she wore me down and we agreed that she would cook spaghetti and meatballs - never let it be said that she doesn't aim high lol.I've never made meatballs before and I wasn't really sure what to put in them (apart from the meat bit obviously) so I googled for a recipe but there were so many variations that I gave up and decided to let her do what she wanted (obviously keeping the pizza menu to hand just in case). She squished together some … [Read more...]
Mothers Day….
Happy Mothers Day everyone.I hope you've all had a lovely day, I can see from my blogroll that there are lots of Mother's Day posts for me to catch up on so I'll be off to do that soon. We've had a nice family day together and the kids are now in bed so I have a nice little glass of wine to chill out with while I watch Dancing on Ice (I know - I'm very sad). I tried to make a cute little mothers day video of the kids but it didn't turn out as cute as I wanted. You can hear Mr Frugal sniggering away in the background and near the end Miss Frugal keeps saying 'He's … [Read more...]
I’d love to be a child again….
I've just watched Miss Frugal make a new friend and it's made me think how much easier life was as a child. We only have a small fence between us and the house out the back of us as their house has only just been finished and Miss Frugal noticed a little girl in the garden from her bedroom window. She came downstairs, put her shoes and coat on and then went outside and pretended to be playing a really interesting game with her scooter. The little girl got closer and closer to the fence and after about five minutes she asked Miss Frugal what she was doing, Miss Frugal replied … [Read more...]
Birthday Party Blues….
Master Frugal is much happier at school lately, When I picked him up from school today, his teacher pulled me to one side and said that he is more like his old self now - he's more sure of himself and is joining in with things a lot more. I am so relieved because even though I know that it can be a big shock to some youngsters moving from nursery to full time school, I hated to think that he wasn't happy at school. It's his fifth birthday in a couple of weeks, I've booked him a birthday party at the Wacky Warehouse. I was going to have a nice frugal … [Read more...]

I know it's not exactly Summer yet but after the cold, dark winter we've had the I'm going to make the most of what we have got!We made pineapple ice lollies first using two tins of value pineapple chunks (13p each) and some lemonade.Master Frugal helped me to blend the pineapple chucks, saving a few for later. Then we poured the blended mix into a jug, topped up to a pint with lemonade and added the last of the pineapple chunks. We poured the mix into our ice lolly holders and put them in … [Read more...]
