Right, everyone think of five sentences that describe Florence Nightingale. Done? Now use 4,32,28,+,- and = and makeup as many different sums as you can, then if you wouldn't mind drawing and labelling a plant. If you can do that, you have successfully completed Miss Frugal's (aged 7) homework!I presumed she would know the Florence Nightingale bit but no, she couldn't remember anything about her other than she was a nurse. Thanks god for Google eh!Just so you know (in Miss Frugal's words) :Florence Nightingale was trained to be a nurse. She liked to help the soldier men.She was born in 1820.She … [Read more...]
Yummy Carrot Cake….
I normally bake with Miss Frugal because (a) she loves to make things, (b) she is at the age where she is able to do things for herself and (c) she doesn't try and eat everything in sight every time I turn around. Yesterday, however, my baking buddy deserted me to go to her friends for a sleepover so I was left with Master Frugal to be my helpful assistant. To be honest he was more of a hindrance than a help but he had fun so it doesn't really matter if he ate more of the mix than I managed to get in the oven!I've never made a carrot cake before and was really surprised by how moist and yummy … [Read more...]

He's sat on the settee in his Power Ranger's costume with a sad face waiting for her to come back. We decided to look and some happy pictures as I was downloading them from my camera to the computer and these are his favourite four taken yesterday at the playpark. They cheered him up for all of about ten seconds and now he's miserable again! Oh well, lets see if Handy Manny can cheer him up.... I … [Read more...]

She asked me if she could get them for her boyfriends (note the plural there!) and because I thought it was really cute I let her get them, extremely un-frugal of me at £1.79 for five biscuits!Anyway we got them home and she has carefully decorated each one with a different boys name, apparently Jack, Kieran, James, Damien and Rebecca (don't ask … [Read more...]
Recipe for Golden Syrup Biscuits….
To try out the aprons that we made yesterday we just made some yummy golden syrup biscuits. When I say we, I mean me, Miss Frugal and Baby Isabella (the doll!) so you can imagine how long it took us. Miss Frugal is soooo cute when she's pretending to be a mommy, she made sure that baby Isabella got to have go at everything and kept saying well done to her when she did something.... Aaaaaw. The recipe itself is super easy, all you need is:25 g (1 oz) butter or margarine2 1/2 tablespoons golden syrup1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence100g (4 oz) self raising flour1. … [Read more...]
