Both of my children have beautiful red hair....They've always loved the colour of their hair and to my knowledge, until this week nothing negative has ever really been said to them about their hair colour. Just the opposite in fact, they often get stopped by people who tell them how lovely it is.We've had a few incidents like this and this - but I don't really think they're the same as they weren't outright nasty comments made to their faces like we've experienced this week.I took them into town as I had a problem with my mobile phone and had to spend over an hour in the shop … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Dear Beautiful Daughter….
To my beautiful daughter, I can't believe you're 10 this week. You seem to have grown up so fast - from a chubby smiley baby to the confident happy young lady that you are now. I know you're looking forward to the next stage of your childhood - you've told me often enough lately just how important a 10th birthday is as you're almost a teenager when you hit hose double figures. It makes me a little sad though, to know that you're growing up and that one day soon, you won't need me as much as you do right now. I don't ever want you to stop telling me your little secrets but I know you … [Read more...]
To all parents of fussy eaters….
Over the last few years, I've read a lot of articles about what do do with a fussy eater to encourage them to try new things, all of them offering advice on how to make your fussy eater less of a fussy eater. As you might know, Master Frugal is quite possibly the fussiest eater on the planet and I've tried all sorts to try and encourage him to eat more. I've tried a food reward chart (as made by Jen), I've tried making faced out of his food, I've told him he cant have desert if he doesn't eat his tea - in fact I think I've tried everything.Every now and again, he would try a tiny bit of … [Read more...]
I’m having a moment….
Only one more day left and then another school year will be over.Miss Frugal is going up into Year 5 and Master Frugal is going to be moving up to the dizzy heights of Year 3 where apparently you get to play in the big playground 'away from those little kids'.Funnily enough though, it's not the knowledge that they're both moving up a year at school that's made me feel a little bit sad tonight. It's the fact that when I cleaned the front of my fridge earlier on tonight, they both decided they were too old for all the 'babyish' fridge magnets. They're not particularly special fridge … [Read more...]
More growing up decisions to make….
Miss Frugal knows her way round a computer better than I do.From an early age, both my children have been given access to computers and the internet (obviously while sitting with me) and we've gradually progressed from sites like CBeebies to their current favourites, Moshi Monsters and Club Penguin. We use a lot of educational sites that our school recommend and her weekly homework is often internet based so lately we've spent time together learning how to search for information and images. I've also spent time showing things like how to use Word and how to send e mails (so she … [Read more...]
Our First Broken Heart….
Last week Master Frugal came rushing out of school and announced to us that he was in love and had asked his new girlfriend to marry him. She accepted even though another boy in their class also popped the question the same day as she said liked how Master Frugal didn't cry when he fell over at playtime. They've had so much fun together this week according to Master Frugal and he was looking forward to celebrating their one week anniversary today (he'd even written her a love letter). The only problem was that between last night when she'd told him that she loved him and first thing … [Read more...]
