When I picked Miss Frugal up from school on Tuesday she was much quieter than normal and I could see something was bothering her but she had two friends coming round for tea so I didn't press her to tell me what it was straight away but when they'd gone home, we laid on the settee together and she told me that one of the girls in her class, let's call her 'the nasty one' had written a note about her saying she was a thief and she'd threatened to take this letter home to her foster parents who would be very angry with Miss Frugal. We've had trouble with the nasty one before when she told Miss … [Read more...]
A Recipe for a Peace and Quiet….
Chop up as much fruit as you can - reduced fruit from the Supermarket at the end of the day is preferable.Melt one huge bar of chocolate Add two children and allow them to dip the chopped fruit into the melted chocolate Sit back and enjoy the peace … [Read more...]
When a Day Out Goes Wrong….
This weekend's news that three children have had to be taken to hospital after a bouncy castle broke free of it's moorings in Whitby has started me thinking about how safe it is to let our kids go on these types of rides. It's not the first time that something like this has happened recently and although I don't think that the children involved have not been seriously injured, it's quite scary to think about what could have been.Like most parents, when we go out for the day we often let our two go on bouncy castles and rides. Although we try to make sure that the ride itself … [Read more...]
Smug Daddy…..
Why is it that everything seems to go silent just seconds before your child comes out with a corker like the one Miss Frugal came out with this afternoon at the shop? How many inches is yours Daddy - it's quite a big one isn't it? You can imagine the snorts and sniggers around us and the good news obviously got round the shop quite quickly because an older lady with a bald patch and a bit of a beard winked at him on the way out ;-) (It's not as bad as it sounds, we were in the bike aisle looking at bikes and she was referring to the size of his bike!) … [Read more...]
Back on the Worry Rollercoaster….
Remember me telling you that Life was good again after last months hospital appointment with Miss Frugal? Well, after another hospital appointment, the Doctor is now not so certain that it's nothing serious and has decided that we need to take her for a brain scan (I think it's called an MRI scan) so that we can rule out the 'big things'. After last months visit, I was much more relaxed taking her this time, I thought it was more of a formality as the doctor told us at the end of the last visit that you often never find out what's behind child dizziness and that she was just going to … [Read more...]
Party Politics….
It's OK this isn't a political post really, although I would like to say thank you to our local Labour candidate who nearly ran me off the road on Thursday when he was concentrating more on his loundspeaker thing than his driving! This is about a different kind of party politics - birthday parties....Earlier this week Miss Frugal told me about a party one of her friends was having that she hadn't been invited to. She wasn't too bothered herself but as the birthday girl had been one of the girls invited to Miss Frugal's pamper party last September, I couldn't help but wonder why she … [Read more...]
