I love Rose wine and I have just seen a recipe for a Rose wine cocktail on one of Rachel Allen's TV shows and it sounds absolutely gorgeous....Chop up 1 nectarine (or apparently you could use raspberries or strawberries) and add the juice of half a lime.Add 2 teaspoons of sugar and blend together.Pour into a jug and top up with chilled Rose wine.Stir it together and voila... Happiness in a jug! … [Read more...]
Going Bananas….
I have just found two bananas hiding at the bottom of my fruit bowl that are looking a but past it. Rather than throwing them out (as I usually would) I decided to see if I could find a way to use up these sad looking specimens....There are loads of recipes out there on the internet using bananas but the simplest one that I have found was for Fruity Banana Bread.Ingredients100g sugar,75g Margarine,200g plain flour,2 teaspoons baking powder,2 eggs,2 bananas,50g dried fruit.First of all you need to cream the margarine and the sugar. Then mix in the eggs and add the two mashed up bananas. Mix in … [Read more...]
Home Made Pizza Recipe….
We had home made Pizza for tea tonight - the kids love making this and always eat every bit of it, probably because they think things taste better when they make them.I don't usually have any yeast in the house and never buy any especially to make pizza as home made pizza to me is to use up any leftovers in the fridge and not to go out and buy something extra. So the base that I use is like a scone type base and the recipe is probably the easiest thing ever to make. All you need is 2 1/2 cups Self Raising flour, 30 g butter and 1 cup milk. To make dough, just rub the butter into the flour and … [Read more...]
Meal 2 – Stretching the Ham Joint….

I cooked it for about 45 minutes and then added some dumplings and cooked for another 25 minutes or so. It tasted lovely and even Mr Frugal ate it which makes a change. … [Read more...]
Quick Slimming World Meal….
Mmmm, I have just made a super quick Quorn chilli that is free on Slimming World and yummy enough for anyone. All I did was mix a tin of baked beans with a tin of tomatoes in a pan. I added some Quorn chunks that I had in the freezer and a bit of chilli powder and then just let it all cook for about 10 minutes. I couldn't be bothered to cook rice (it always sticks to my pan) so I just put it on top of a jacket spud and topped it with some fat free fromage frais...... It was gorgeous. … [Read more...]
Crispy cakes….
It's ok, I'm not about to post a recipe for crispy cakes as they're not exactly hard to make are they? I just wanted to show you the crispy cakes that Miss Frugal made herself for her birthday party last week. We used about some frosties and a huge block of Tescos own brand chocolate (not the value one but the next one up) and sprinkled some sprinkles on them before the chocolate set again. … [Read more...]
