Every week I look forward to the weekend as its the only 2 days of the week that we are all at home together and we always try to do something that we know that the kids will enjoy. As it was so nice yesterday we decided to have a trip to the beach. We live about five minutes away from the beac but we don't go too often as Mr Frugal hates the beach - he hates the sand in his feet and he hates the sea as he says you don't know whats in it. But the weather was so nice that we decided to take the kids down and let them have a paddle. But.... Disaster struck when Master Frugal fell over in the sea … [Read more...]
Princess Castle Birthday cake….
I found a couple of good cake moulds on e bay but they are all around £15.00 so I thought that I might as well buy the big cake for Asda for that price and not have the stress of making a cake on top of the rest if the usual party stresses. That was until I came across the instructions for how to make a princess castle birthday cake....I have watched this twice and I really think that I could do this and it would look so much better than a shop bought, mass produced one. I am not sure if I dare though in case it all goes wrong!Time for a think.... (Although I am already seeing the admiration … [Read more...]
Healthy Lunches for Work….
Now that I am back at work and on Slimming world, I need to sort out my lunches. The canteen at work is ridiculously priced and there is nothing else near to where I work so I have spent a fortune in there in the past. The optician told me that I didn't need glasses but I needed to take more regular breaks so I am going to do … [Read more...]

Kitchen Disaster….
I knew it was too good to be true, everything has been going so well on the cooking front lately.Last night, I decided to make some chicken and vegetable soup and being the perfect Domestic Goddess that I am (not), I started by making my chicken stock from scratch. I must admit that I found this part really easy as I was following the step by step instructions on the blog 'A shade of lavender'. Unfortunately, once my chicken stock was made, I decided to go it alone as I had read somewhere that you can't go wrong when making soups.... I can now confirm that whoever said that was blissfully … [Read more...]
Whats cooking today…. Updated with the finished tea….
In anticipation of my freezer clear out this week I am making some bolognaise sauce to be frozen for some quick dinners when I am back at work next week.I haven't bought anything in especially to make this, I have just used what was already in the freezer and I am trying to make it without the help of a bolognaise sauce packet mix!To save on time, I have just thrown all the ingredients in the slow cooker and now it's going to quietly bubble away all day without any help from me. When its done, will let it cool and portion it up for the freezer.Super Quick and Easy Spaghetti Bolognaise … [Read more...]
