I wanted to post another Quick Craft Club idea today but I didn't have time to do anything crafty with the kids last night and we're having a snuggle and a movie night tonight so I thought I would re-post one of our favourite craft activities. I originally wrote about this quick craft in March but for those of you who missed it, here's how to recycle your wax crayons.Break up your wax crayons and put a selection of colours into a cupcake case, I use silicon cases for this but I'm sure paper ones would be OK too. Pre heat the oven to around 160 c and put your crayon cakes in the oven, … [Read more...]
Bored, Bored, Board…. The Sequel
A little while ago we made our own board game called the Razzle Dazzle game and even if I do say so myself, it was brilliant. I can't for the life of me understand why Mattel or some other game making company aren't banging on out door trying to buy the rights to it (or not lol). We do actually still play it every now and again as Miss Frugal is so proud that she made her very own board game, she even took it to school with her for games day on the last day of school. So when she asked if we could make another one, I could hardly say no, could I?We were a bit limited with … [Read more...]
Easy Homemade Shortbread Recipe….
Note to self: Don't play Guitar Hero while shortbread is cooking! We love a nice easy recipe here in the Frugal house so when I came across a super easy looking recipe for home made shortbread that uses just 3 ingredients I knew it sounded like one for us....They turned out yummy, although I was playing Lego Guitar Hero on the Xbox so I missed the oven beeping so a few of them are a little bit, erm crispy ;-)All you need is 125g butter, 50g sugar and 175g plain flour.Cream the butter and the sugar together and then add in the flour, I used my electric whisker thing because I was … [Read more...]
Legoland Discovery Centre….
Anyone who reads this blog regularly will know that over the past few weeks we've had more family days out than you would think possible! Our best day by far was last Saturday when we visited the Legoland Discovery Centre at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. We were welcomed Professor Brick who taught us how you make Lego using his special machines (and with a bit of help from the kids) in his Lego factory which reminded me of Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory without the chocolate ;-).We had a quick walk though Miniland which looked fantastic although we didn't really get to spend much … [Read more...]
Brilliant beetles….
This post is part of Cathy from NurtureStore's play academy. Why don't you pop over there for more ideas,After the last two super busy weeks, Mr Fugal and I are now both back at work and our bank balance is looking rather pathetic ;-( We don't mind though because, to us, thats the reason that we are trying to be more frugal - so that we can use the money to have as much fun as possible with the kids. Anyway, tonight we decided to have a bit of a family games night and play a few of our home made games,we played with the Story Cards and the Razzle Dazzle game but the kids decided … [Read more...]
What’s on your doorstep….
I am so tired. I've been off work for the past two weeks and rather than relax and take it easy, I've been busy trying to pack as much fun as possible in to our 'staycation'. It's so rare that we're all of work / school at the same time that we really wanted to make the most of it. We've been to Drayton Manor and Haggerston Castle so far and have planned a trip to the Metrocentre tomorrow and the Legoland Discovery Centre on Saturday. As well as these trips, we've been exploring our own area quite a bit and discovering new places to visit nearer to home.We live in an area of the North … [Read more...]
