Dear ReaderWe would like to cordially invite you to the grand opening of the Frugal Family art gallery.Upon your arrival to our gallery, you will be presented with a welcome cocktail (well fizzy pop in a sugar coated glass with a grape kebab), before being escorted through to the main hall (AKA my living room) where a fantastic display of artwork awaits you. I've consulted the artist and she's happy for anyone to purchase her artwork but apparently it will set you back 68,000 pence! Doesn't look like I'll be making much in commissions from this, does it?Just one word of … [Read more...]
An alternative use for a wooden spoon….
We were going to make sock puppets today but we had a bit of a disaster when we tried to stick the bits on to the sock. Never one to give up at the first hurdle, we decided to make wooden spoon puppets instead. We didn't use anything special, just some pipecleaners and sparkly bits from our craft box. Predictably, Miss Frugal made a princess and Master Frugal made a scary dragon. Then we made the simplest theatre you've ever seen - Miss Frugal made a sign and stuck it to the front of a box we picked up when we went shopping. It definitely wasn't an oscar winning performance - the … [Read more...]

Teddy Bears Picnic….
What a gorgeous day it is today, we've just had a teddy bears picnic in the garden to make the most of the sunshine, because lets face it, it doesn't usually last too long does it? We made a quick and yummy fruit salad out of nectarines, pears, apples and a banana to share with the assorted teddys and dolls assembled on our picnic blanket but they obviously weren't hungry as they never touched it! We put Miss Frugals Ipod on and had a lovely little chat on the blanket about allsorts. For example, I now know that Miss Frugal has dumped her boyfriend as she thought he had two other … [Read more...]
Fairy Fun….
Today didn't go exactly as expected as poor Master Frugal is feeling a bit iffy today so he's spent the day snuggled on the settee feeling sorry for himself. We had planned to do some actities and crafts around one of the kids favourite dinosaur books after the fun we had last time with Aliens Wear Underpants but he really wasn't in the mood for anything like that. While he had a sleep this afternoon Miss Frugal and I read one of her favourite girly stories - Snowflakes and Sparkledust which is one of the Felicity Wishes books by Emma Thompson. It's all about a group of fairy friends who … [Read more...]
Making Memories….
Did you know that it's National Family week between the 31st May and the 6th June? Apparently the average family spends only 49 minutes a day together which is such a shame, I love spending time with the kids, whether it's doing stuff at home, going out somewhere with them or even just snuggling up together on the settee. I'm really looking forward to half term at the end of this month, which cleverly coincides with National Family Week. I should hopefully have some time off work to spend with them so we can do loads of fun stuff together. We've had a chat about what the kids want to … [Read more...]
