This sign made us laugh yesterday when we were out shopping ;-) I'm not sure what made me laugh most, the fact that Gingerbread Men now appear to be called Ginger Persons or the fact that we, a family of four Ginger Persons, were stood staring at the sign advertising us at the special offer price of 4 for £1.00. Inspired by this sign, we've just made our very own ginger person family.... You can make them even if you're not ginger lol. All you need to make them is: 350g plain flour 2 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 100g butter or … [Read more...]
Shake it Baby….
I HATE NOISY TOYS! It can't be just me who hates noisy toys.... No matter how cute or funny the toy may be, they usually start to get on my nerves about 30 seconds after they're turned on. Which is why the following activity was such a huge sacrifice on my part! With Miss Frugal despatched to Grandads for tea, me and Master Frugal decided to put empty yoghurt pots to good use and make a shakey thing....I didn't take any pictures as we were making it as Master Frugal and paint and scissors and glue don't mix well ;-)All we did was sellotape two muller light yoghurt pots … [Read more...]
Happy Camping….
Does anyone go camping? We've never been before but are seriously considering trying it this year in the Summer holidays. I was hoping we might be able to have a more exotoc holiday, or at least one that involves an aeroplane but unless we win the lotter it doesn't look like that's going to happen so we thought camping in the UK might be a good alternative. To practice, we've bought a little 2 man tent from B&Q (complete bargain at £11) and set it up in the garden. It was a loads easier than I thought to set up although to be fair we do appear to have a few spare ropes and pegs … [Read more...]
Please Mr Postman….
Why does the last day of the school holidays go so fast? We've had a lovely two weeks but I think the kids are both really looking forward to going back tomorrow. We always like to do something really fun on the last day of the school holidays but Miss Frugal's feet are still bad and she wasn't up to walking anywhere today so we decided to stay home and enjoy the weather in the back garden by having a barbecue. Now I'm sure we bought a barbecue in the sales at the end of last Summer but I couldn't find it anywhere today when we were looking for it so we ended up using some of those … [Read more...]
Dominoes…. Or Snap….
Our Easter holidays have been rudely interrupted by a verruca infection! I took Miss Frugal to the Dr's a while back as she had three verrucas that just weren't going away, he said they would go eventually and there was nothing else he could do as they don't believe in referring children to the podiatrist unless it is severe. He recommended we try and get rid of them using Bazuca so we've been applying that but they've gone nowhere! In the last week they have at least double in size and are now huge, they are so painful that she can't walk more than about two steps without … [Read more...]
Learning to Learn….
It's so hard not to compare your children. Miss Frugal was so eager to learn and Master Frugal has, up until recently, shown no interest at all in learning to write. I'm not worried too much as he's only just turned five but I have been a bit stuck for ideas on what I could do to help him learn. All of a sudden it seems to have clicked a bit for him. He wants to learn and over the last couple of weeks he has gone from a unrecognisable scribble to being able to write his name reasonably clearly.I keep trying to get him to pick out letters from the words we see … [Read more...]
