This year Miss Frugal has decided that she doesn't want to wear a traditional Halloween costume - she'd much rather have a pretty one! I've explained to her that the whole point of a Halloween costume is to wear a spooky costume but she's not having any of it.She looks, in her own words, like a rainbow has thrown up on her!Even Master Frugal isn't that bothered this year, I had to twist his arm to get him to wear a mask let alone a full costume! … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Dear Beautiful Daughter….
To my beautiful daughter, I can't believe you're 10 this week. You seem to have grown up so fast - from a chubby smiley baby to the confident happy young lady that you are now. I know you're looking forward to the next stage of your childhood - you've told me often enough lately just how important a 10th birthday is as you're almost a teenager when you hit hose double figures. It makes me a little sad though, to know that you're growing up and that one day soon, you won't need me as much as you do right now. I don't ever want you to stop telling me your little secrets but I know you … [Read more...]
Proud to be British….
In the last fortnight I've found myself watching sports I've never even watched before, let alone enjoyed. I've stood and screamed at the TV, willing Team GB to do well and I've sat on the floor and cried big happy tears when one of Team GB has done well.I was especially excited when we found out that we have our very own gold postbox about twenty minutes drive from our house after Kat Copeland won Gold in the Women's Double Scull race and we couldn't wait to go see it.The picture's not very good as we had to be quick due to the rain and the rather long queue of people wanting to see … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Hands….
I was torn this week between a picture I took ages ago and one that I took last week when we were on holiday - so I decided on a two for one special today ;-)This is the one I took last week - I ordered waffles and strawberries for breakfast and naturally, like any blogger would do, I got out my camera to take a photo before eating it. From pressing the button to take the picture to the picture actually being taken, this little hand appeared, helping itself to my breakfast! Here's the other picture I wanted to share, brother and sister holding hands and looking after each other. I … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Light….
I know I'm a day late but I had a marathon baking session yesterday for a charity bake sale today and I really wanted to join in with this week's Gallery because I love the theme 'Light'. Here's a few of my favourites....This year I'm determined to learn to use light better in my photography, at the minute I just click and hope for the best :-) … [Read more...]
The Gallery – My Inspiration….
My mam died five years ago next month and there hasn't been a day gone by since then that I haven't missed her.I miss her so much and even now, it hurts me when I think about how much of the children's lives she's missing out on. Sometimes I just want to stamp my feet and scream that it's not fair that she died. I don't know if I'll ever stop wanting to pick up the phone to tell her some small thing that's happened during the day or if I'll ever stop talking to her like she's still here with me but I do know that one of the reasons I miss her so much is because she was my inspiration. … [Read more...]
