We’re a lot better these days but that last few days before payday still seem to drag so since we’re approaching that time right about now, I thought I’d share 10 budget family-friendly meals that are ideal for the week before payday!
We've all been there - the week before payday when you're almost out of money with a week's worth of family meals to plan. Here's a few of the budget-friendly meals that might work for you and your family... This is absolutely our favourite family meal and it doesn't cost much to make at all. This is a great way to use up all your leftovers whether it's meat, veg or pretty much anything else! We always have risotto rice in the cupboard so pretty much all we need for this is a packet of mushrooms! Cheap but super tasty. Not the prettiest picture but this is another great way to use up leftovers. We love Calzones in our house - especially when they're packed with delicious fillings like chicken and pineapple of ham and mushroom. Toad in the hole is our fall-back 'cheap' Sunday dinner. We often have reduced price sausages in the freezer which make it even more of a bargain. This is a delicious vegetarian version of my homemade slow cooker curry and it's super flexible as you can use any veggies in it. This is such a good budget-friendly meal to cook as it's not only delicious but also so versatile as you can use the leftovers for all sorts of meals like lasagne, pasta bakes and even pizza toppings. This is so filling that I guarantee there'll be no-one left hungry after eating this! I love having the leftovers on jacket potatoes. This is a really mild chilli that's definitely budget-friendly as it uses turkey mince. Make a batch of this homemade tomato sauce and use it in pasta bakes, pizza toppings, in fajitas and quesadillas and countless other meals.
