The lovely Becky tagged me in the Christmas tag post that’s doing the rounds at the moment and seeing as I love all things Christmas, I thought I’d join in and share a post of my own with you all to tell you what I love most about Christmas…
What’s Your Favourite Christmas Movie?
We have a bit of a family tradition of watching Christmas movies together every Christmas Eve so even though Elf is my favourite ever Christmas movie, I do have some very happy memories of snuggling with the kids on Christmas Eve and watching films like Santa Paws and Santa Claus the Movie.
Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?
I think we had one about 5 or 6 years ago, didn’t we?
I wasn’t well that and I couldn’t even enjoy opening presents as I had some sort of stomach bug so I just managed to get through to the kids’ bedtime pretending I was having fun and then I climbed into bed and slept for the whole of the next day.
Where Do You Usually Spend Your Holiday?
Until my Mam and brother died, we always used to head to my Mam and Dad’s house for a full-on family Christmas but more recently, we’ve had Christmas at our house with my Dad visiting us in the afternoon for a big Christmas dinner.
This year is going to be an odd one for me because my Dad’s not going to be well enough to visit us on Christmas Day, even for a short while, so we’re going to be having a Christmas at home on our own with just us and the kids. I’m not sure how I feel about that as I’ve always secretly wished for a Christmas just for us where I can stay in my Christmas pyjamas all day if I want to but now that I’m getting my wish, I really wish that I wasn’t.
What Is Your Favourite Christmas Song?
This is a toss-up between Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Christmas’ and anything from the Michael Buble Christmas album. I’m going to go with Mariah just because she came on the radio in the car on the way home today and we had a family sing song. 😉
Can You Name All Of Santa’s Reindeer?
Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Donna, Prancer, Vixen, Donner and Blitzen. Are there any others that I’m missing?
What Holiday Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?
Every December we have a big family day out wearing our Christmas jumpers and Christmas hats so that’s the big thing I’m looking forward to at the moment – there’s a chance the kids may think they’re too cool for Christmas hats and jumpers this year but we’re still going to go out for the day.
What Is The Best Christmas Present You Ever Received?
I know this sounds a bit cheesey but I’m more one for giving presents than getting them and I love to choose presents that I know people will love to open. The best Christmas present I can remember is when we bought Master Frugal the mascot experience for his favourite football team. We got a ball signed by everyone in the team as part of the package so we gave him that on Christmas morning with a note to say what we’d bought him and what the experience included. As he read through the letter, the happiness on his face gave me a lump in my throat and made me so happy.
That’s feeling is definitely the best Christmas gift I’ve ever received.
Most Memorable Christmas Memory?
My most memorable Christmas is memorable for the wrong reason, unfortunately – a few years ago we woke to find our boiler had broken and we had no heating at all. It was so cold and we spent most of the day wrapped in blankets and snuggled up together in one room.
It didn’t ruin our day at all but it definitely made it one to remember!
What Made You Realise The Truth About Santa?
I can’t remember to be honest but I don’t think I had a huge revelation or that it was a big deal when I found out.
What Makes The Holidays Special For You?
I love everything about Christmas but mainly the time that we spend together as a family. The older the kids get, the less time they want to spend with us but Christmas is a game-changer. 😉
They expect us to do certain things together as a family which is absolutely fine with me – Christmas jumper family day out at Stockeld Park, the Christingle service at the local church, Christmas shopping day, Christmas games nights with the neighbours and various Christmas film watching together.
I’d love you to answer some of the questions in the comments below. 😉
I’m going to tag a few blogging friends who I’d like to hear from…
