I know I’ve said before that I was worried about Master Frugal as he was behind his classmates for reading, you all gave me some brilliant ideas to encourage him and told me not to worry because he’d catch up when he was ready. I did listen to you all but it’s been really hard for me not to worry, especially when it started to affect his confidence and when he started to worry that he couldn’t read as well as his friends. I told him that all he could do was try his best and encouraged him as much as possible but he was starting to get frustrated and angry at himself when he couldn’t get his words right when he was trying to read.
Then, a few months ago saying they wanted to put him on the Reading Recovery program which would involve one to one tuition on a daily basis over the course of six months. The difference is amazing and I am so proud of him and the effort he’s put in to his learning. Last night was parents night and his teacher said that he had come on massively and was now back within the class average – she even described his improvement as ‘miraculous’.
Tonight we’ve been sat together on the kitchen floor playing with the words and letter magnets on the side of the fridge so I thought that I would join in with this weeks Gallery, even though the theme is ‘One Word’, I thought I’d share lots of words with you. Words that my little boy can now confidently read 😉
