If anyone was wondering how my night out last night went, you don’t need to wonder anymore, I can tell you in two words – IT DIDN’T.
I was so organised that I suprised even myself. I apologised in advance for the behaviour I was sure to exhibit after a few bottles glasses of wine, arranged a baby sitter as Mr Frugal was at work, bought a nice new top and some nice spangly nail polish and located my dancing shoes 😉 I even managed a nice relaxing soak in the bath while the kids were at their after school sports club and was really looking forward to the evenings festivities.
I arrived at the school just in time and was a bit concerned that I couldn’t see my two anywhere in the line of children waiting to come out. My mammy panic took over a bit at this point and I practically pushed my way to the front (as you do), as soon as the teaching assistant saw me she stepped aside and said I needed to go in as Miss Frugal had been hurt. The teacher was sat with a very weepy Miss Frugal holding an ice pack on her eye and he explained to me that she had been running to get a drink when another little girl had fallen over in front of her, apparently she’d been going too fast to stop and tripped over the girl on the floor. She managed to hit her eye on the corner of a wooden bench before banging her forehead on the floor when she hit the ground. She’d felt a bit sick and dizzy just after she had done it and had started to shiver so he was really concerned about her.
Master Frugal was sat next to her stroking her hand with tears in his eyes as he hates when anyone is hurt bless him. She took the ice pack off to show me the damage and I could’ve cried, her eye was so swollen she could hardly open it and her forehead was already a lovely blue colour. The teacher said she’d only done it a few minutes before so they hadn’t rang me as they knew I’d already been on my way but he told me I needed to take her to A&E to get her looked at straight away.
I rang Mr Frugal at work to let him know what had happened and we headed to the local A&E where we were seen quite quickly thank goodness, poor Miss Frugal was then examined to within an inch of her life. I was so relieved when they said she was OK, they said she needed to keep an ice pack on and that I had to keep a close eye on her as well as waking her up after she’d been asleep for a few hours to make sure she was responsive.
By this point, I could see that the swelling had visibly reduced since I’d collected her and she was feeling better within herself so I took her home and rang my friends to say that I would be staying home. We had a snuggle night together and I woke her up when I went to bed and in the middle of the night once for good measure. The school even rang me last night to make sure she was OK.
This morning she got up and has declared herself fine, the swelling has completely gone down and she looks like her normal self other than a big red mark on her eyebrow and a slightly blue forehead. Soooo, I’ve let her go to London with her Grandad as planned, he has the head injury card and I know he’ll take care of her and make sure she’s fine but even so, I’m a bit worried that she’s not with me.
This is not a photo of the injury last night but is an actual reconstruction of it this morning using Wonderweb, which I acknowledge does look like bandage if mummy carelessly puts it in the box with the plasters!
And just when I was feeling a bit miserable, I get a knock at my door and these beautiful flowers were delivered. Interflora, you must be psychic because flowers always cheer me up and I really needed cheering up last night. Thank you very much.
