You know how one of my New Years resolutions was to be more organised.
Well it’s only day 9 and I failed (actually I technically failed on day 8 as this happened yesterday)!
My children are often the last children in the school playground on an afternoon due to the fact I finish work half an hour before school lets out and drive the 15 odd miles to the school and either struggle to squeeze my car into a space the size of a go kart or I park a mile hike from the school!
I’m often the one rushing in through the school gates as all the other (more organised) parents are strolling out with their children in hand but since I’m trying to be more organised, I managed to leave work on time so today I was there and waiting outside Master Frugal’s class ready for him to come out.
We had a pleasant walk back to the car (I chose the mile hike option) and we had a nice chat about what he’d done that day and I got into the car feeling a little bit smug at how organised I was being. Clearly my New Years resolution was working well.
I got home and following on with the perfect/organised mum thing I thought I’d pour him a glass of milk and he could have a sit and read his school reading book. Am I wowing you with perfection yet?
Then the phone rang and it all came crashing down.
It was the school receptionist letting me know that I had inadvertently forgotten to collect Miss Frugal and she was sat at school in reception waiting for me! I then realised that actually, it wasn’t Thursday so she wasn’t at the after school club I’d thought she was at.
Not only was she sat in reception looking miserable that I’d forgotten her, I had to sign her out of school in the out of hours book and the receptionist wrote ‘forgot to collect child’ in the reason column.
I’m pretty sure she’s never going to let me forget this one!
