I’ve not been online very much over the last few week – mainly because real life has required much more time and attention that usual but also because it’s always nice to take a little bit of a break every now and again.
Anyway, I’m back now and the fact that I can see a blue sky as I’m sitting drinking my morning Chai Latte (get me!) makes me feel very happy and optimistic that we’ve seen the back of the dreadful weather we’ve been having.
Feeling so happy about such a small thing naturally made me think about Cas at Mummy Never Sleeps as she hosts a fab weekly linky about sharing the small things that make you happy. It would be rude not to join in when there are so many little things that have made me happy this week so I thought I’d share a few of them with you along with some of my favourite photos from the week….
We got the decision on Miss Frugal’s senior school
After my post a while ago about having to decide which senior school to choose for Miss Frugal, we found out at the weekend that she was allocated a place at the one we put as our first choice which is a fantastic school that I know will encourage her to be the best she can be. The downside to this is that none of her friends will be going there but she’s coping well with that at the minute so I’m trying not to focus on how bad I feel about that right now.
The fact that my house is still standing
A small kitchen fire incident earlier this week could have been so much worse than it actually was so I’m focusing on that rather than the fact that there actually was a fire. An actual fire! In my kitchen!
Making it past level 70 on Candy Crush.
Don’t stop reading – I’m not a Candy Crush addict but I do like to play it in the car when I’m waiting for the kids to come out of school or when I’m sat around with a couple of minutes to spare. Level 70 was a nightmare so when I completed in, I may have let out a little ‘whoo hoo’ and felt irrationally pleased with myself.
I have a new dinner set
After years of having mismatched plates and bowls, I finally went out and bought a new dinner set – nothing fancy but it all co-ordinates and my cupboards look lovely. I know it’s sad but I smile every time I open the cupboard and see everything organised and matching.
Some of the things that the kids have been saying
Probably funnier to me than they’ll sound to you but some of the things the kids have said this week have had me in stitches laughing.
Mam! Look there’s that Rhinos Belt!– Miss Frugal after I shared my limited knowledge of constellations with her.
This one’s easy – it’s the Lord of the Rings.Master Frugal’s answer to the quiz question ‘ What movement did Lord Baden Powell start?’
I don’t understand why you would need that jug to get pregnant Mam.Miss Frugal after I said I would utilise a jug (she thought I meant fertilise).
