You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and this is the return of my monthly post to share some of my bargains with you!
This always used to be my favourite post to write each month and even though it’s been a while since I’ve actually shared any of my bargains, I’ve still been enjoying my regular mooch around the charity shops in my area and picking up bargains when I see them. 😇
Where I live now, I’m a five minute walk from the village high street where there are four charity shops so I’m in my element on a Saturday morning when I have a little wander down to see what bargains there are. I have a good look around, pop into the butchers and the bakers for what I need and then head home. I look forward to my Saturday morning all week.
I’ve got some interesting bargains to share with you this week so bear with me…
First up, is a second hand bike. We all have good bikes and we love a family bike ride in the nice weather – usually to the pub by the river as thats about a mile and a half each way and there’s a great play park for the kids and a cold drink for us all which we enjoy before heading back. 😁
We also take the kids to a local cycle club on a Monday night when A isn’t working, which they love whatever the weather. I’m more of a fair weather biker and never for one minute thought I would spend my Monday nights on the sidelines of a cycle circuit but I love it now that I’ve learned that hot chocolate is my friend on a cold night.
At cycle club this week, one of the coaches was offering up his son’s bike for a £50 donation to the cycle club so we had a word as it was the next size up from our five year olds bike and it’s pretty clear that he’ll be needing a new bike soon based on the speed he’s growing at the moment. The coach told us that he’d just serviced the bike and upgraded various bits. He also included Winter and Summer tyres (I didn’t even know that was a thing) and something else to do with the seat.
We snapped it up and will pop it in our bike shed (yes, we have a separate shed just for our bikes haha) until he grows out of his other one. We’ll probably get more for his current bike than we paid for this one and we now have a good quality, well serviced bike waiting for him when he needs it.
(We bought our current bikes using the Bike to Work scheme which works out great value for ufs as it comes out of your wage before deductions over 12 months – just in case you were interested and your work do similar)
Our next bargain of the week was from the car boot sale on Sunday…
It’s a pile of those little mini cones that they use in schools and sports clubs.
They use them in cycle club to set up little courses for them to ride through so we thought we could do similar. They were only £2 for the pile of them and we’ve already used them this week for one bike course and one course inside for remote control monster trucks so we’re already getting our money’s worth.
My actual charity shop bargains have been pretty good although I’ve tried to only buy things that I genuinely love AND need in my wardrobe. There’s the lovely and practical black Principles blazer which I was thinking about wearing over some of my dresses to make them look a bit smarter for work. That one cost me £4 and I know I’m going to get lots of wear out of it.
I also bought a second blazer in the same shop but the following week which will be great to brighten up some of my plainer dresses. It’s originally from New Look and cost me £3 which I was over the moon with although it has a very colourful pattern that I would absolutely share with you if I hadn’t left it at Miss Frugal’s house when I popped over last week,
Then there’s these two Vinted bargains.
A super lightweight dress that doubles a a swimsuit cover up for £3 and a brand new with tags swimsuit for £7.50. They look really good together and I feel comfortable in them which is the important thing (to me).
If you’ve been here a while then the chances are that you’ll already know I’m a huge Vinted fan and that there’s not a monthly pre-loved post that goes by without me sharing at least one Vinted bargain. If you want to find out more about how to find bargains on there yourself then this how to buy on Vinted post is perfect for you – it’s the perfect place to start if you want to start finding some pre-loved bargains of your own.
Also, I know that money is tight for many of us right now so I did just want to say that usually when I buy anything pre-loved, I try and only use money that I’ve made from things that I’ve sold on Vinted so I rarely pay actual money for anything you see that I’ve bought from there. Here’s a post about how much I made in a weekend selling on Vinted a little while ago to give you an idea!
So that’s what I’ve bought pre-loved this month. I’d love to see your bargains so feel free to tag me in any Instagram posts and I’ll pop over and see what you’ve been buying!
