You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and this is the return of my monthly post to share some of my bargains with you!
This month’s post is a bit different though as I am just sharing one bargain with you this month – it’s an emotional one.
Bear with me with this one. 😁
Last Summer, I shared a photo of one of my favourite spots in the world when I shared how we had a frugal date having a picnic sat in the sunshine one night. This is the photo I shared with you all on here so you can see the exact spot that we sat in that night.
It was a lovely night but this particular spot means so much more to me than just that one date night (although we’ve had lots of other lovely moments there too).
Since I moved here a couple of years ago, this has always been the place that I walk to when I need some fresh air, the place that I go to when I need to reflect on something, the place I escape to when I need to calm my mind and the spot I love most in the world for people watching.
I just feel drawn to this little spot for some reason – it somehow quiets my brain.
Anyway, now you know that I have some kind of emotional pull to this spot, I’m going to tell you about my favourite pre-loved bargain ever.
It’s pretty much the exact spot that I took my photo from last year.
We spotted it in a charity shop in Whitby, not even in our own village! It was on the top shelf of the homeware section and I’d walked right past it but my partner didn’t miss it and took it down to show me.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get emotional when he showed me as it was so unexpected. In fact, a woman who was stood nearby asked me to explain why the spot was so important to me as I was genuinely shocked to see it.
We bought it immediately for the grand sum of £2 and then spent the rest of the day smiling that we’d found this pretty little canvas of my favourite spot in the world.
There’s more though,,,
Since my mam and brother died, rainbows have took on a new meaning for me thanks to the appearance of one shortly after each of them passed away. I know it’s silly but in my head, a rainbow to me means that one of both of them are close to me so when I see a rainbow, I smile and feel comforted.
I often stop and take a photo of one when I see one and my partner sends me photos when he’s out and about and sees a particularly bright rainbow.
So now you understand my rainbow obsession, you can probably understand why I love this picture even more now than I did when I first laid eyes on it – it’s barely visible but there’s a rainbow of light in the water fountain.
It’s actually a signed print and I’ve found the artists website – it’s a bargain at £2 as it’s selling for £39 on there at the moment. I love it even more now that I know it’s called ‘End of the Rainbow’.
This is the most emotional bargain I’ve found ever and I’m so pleased to have it in our home.
