You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and this is my monthly post to share some of my bargains with you!
This is my favourite post to write every single month and even though it’s been a while since I’ve actually shared a monthly post, I’ve still been enjoying my regular mooch around the charity shops in my area and picking up bargains when I see them. 😇
I haven’t bought as much lately if I’m honest for a couple of reasons.
The main reason that I’m buying less is that clothes are starting to fit me a bit better after a slow weight loss journey. And I mean slow!!! I got a reminder from My Fitness Pal the other day that in the last 18 months, I’ve lost two stones which really made me smile although I know lots will have lost that much in a much smaller timescale. I still have a long way to go which will no doubt take me an equally long time but where I am right now is a much better place for clothes fitting me and not looking too bad.
What that means, in reality, is that my mindset has gradually changed and I can be fussier about what I buy. I’m no longer buying something just because it’s in my size and fits me, I’m being pickier and buying something because I love it and I feel good in it.
You’ll have to excuse the photos with me in them as they’re all taken in the spare room where Master Frugal keeps his weights and the mirrors aren’t great for outfit shots but you get the idea… 😂
Before I show you my clothes bargains though, here’s one pre-loved bargain that I bought recently that’s been a fab buy – my new Fitbit.
I love the motivation that a Fitbit gives me to get in my steps and exercise but I’m not a fan of wearing something chunky on my wrist so I rarely wore the one that I had as it was similar in shape to the Apple Watch and was just too big and bulky for me. I gave my old one away to a good home where it’s now used daily and I spent ages deciding whether to replace it with a smaller version before taking the plunge and buying this one which is the Fitbit Charge 5.
It’s literally half the size of the Fitbit Versa that I had previously and is much easier to wear for me. I bought it from CEX which is a shop that sells used electronics and games for consoles and it cost me £70 which is considerably less than I had seen elsewhere. It looked brand new in the original box with all the extras so I think I got an absolute bargain and I’m now tracking my steps and exercise again in an effort to get myself a bit fitter.
My first clothing pre-loved bargain this month is this outfit – a super comfy New Look pinafore dress that I bought for £2.49. The top underneath is a Next top that I bought for a couple of pounds a while ago but as much as I loved the pink and red stripes, it was just a bit too clingy around the tummy for my liking so it went straight into my donate back to the charity shop pile where it stayed until I found this dress. I think it’s the perfect top for wearing underneath my new dress so it’s been taken off Vinted and promoted to my wardrobe specifically for this dress.
I know I’m going to get loads of wear out of this outfit over the coming months – it’s perfect for cooler days if I wear it with some tights and a pair of boots.
And while I was in my Vinted pile saving the stripey top, I found this dress which I bought for about £4 a little while ago. It was super tight fitting so it went straight to Vinted but it never sold as it’s one of those dresses that you have to really see on to appreciate thanks to all its frilly bits.
I decided to try it on just to see if it fit me now a couple of months later and it actually does.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I look a good sleeve like this and I think I’ll wear it at least once to go out so I’ve promoted this one back to my wardrobe along with the stripey top. Once I’ve worn it once, I’ll probably list it back on Vinted using some better photos and try and sell it as I don’t think I’ll wear it often enough to keep it if that makes sense.
I’m pretty sure I’ve shared before on here that there’s a particular style of dress that Fat Face makes that I absolutely love. It’s called their Simon dress and for me, it’s my perfect dress – short but not too short, has a flattering shape and is super comfortable to wear. It even has pockets!! They bring it out in different patterns and colours every season and I think I currently have about five or six of them although I’ve only ever bought them half-price at the outlet or pre-loved.
I had to stop myself from squealing when I found one in my local charity shop in my size for £3.49 a couple of weeks ago! I was over the moon with it and know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of it!
I’m going to share a product photo of the dress rather than me wearing it so you can really see the shape and style of it properly because it really is that nice a dress that I think you might want to go searching for it yourself…
They’re usually £49 in the shops but it looks like they’ve gone up to £56 according to Google which I presume means the outlet price will have gone up from £25 to £28. There’s quite a few on Vinted for around a tenner but there are very few if you narrow your search down to ‘Fat Face Simone dress’ so you’ll need to go for ‘Fat Face dress’ and scroll through all the other ones until you spot one.
If you’ve been here a while then the chances are that you’ll already know I’m a huge Vinted fan and that there’s not a monthly pre-loved post that goes by without me sharing at least one Vinted bargain. If you want to find out more about how to find bargains on there yourself then this how to buy on Vinted post is perfect for you – it’s the perfect place to start if you want to start finding some pre-loved bargains of your own.
Also, I know that money is tight for many of us right now so I did just want to say that usually when I buy anything pre-loved, I try and only use money that I’ve made from things that I’ve sold on Vinted so I rarely pay actual money for anything you see that I’ve bought from there. Here’s a post about how much I made in a weekend selling on Vinted a little while ago to give you an idea!
So that’s what I’ve bought pre-loved this month. I’d love to see your bargains so feel free to tag me in any Instagram posts and I’ll pop over and see what you’ve been buying!
