You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and this is the return of my monthly post to share some of my bargains with you!
This always used to be my favourite post to write each month and even though it’s been a while since I’ve actually shared any of my bargains, I’ve still been enjoying my regular mooch around the charity shops in my area and picking up bargains when I see them. 😇
I’m moved from the town where I’ve lived for most of my life to live as I’ve moved in with my partner and where we live is a five minute walk from the village high street where there are five charity shops so most Saturday mornings, you’ll find me wandering around the village to see what I can find. I have a good look around the charity shops, pop into the butchers, grocers and the bakers for what I need and then head home with my goodies. It’s a lovely way to spend a couple of hours and get some extra steps in at the same time!
As always, I’ve got some interesting bargains to share with you this month…
First up is a car and I’m pretty sure you won’t believe me when I tell you how we came to buy it and what a bargain we got!
We bought a new family car and it had a couple of bits that needed to be fixed so the week after we bought it, it went back into the garage for a couple of hours to get the jobs done. When it was ready, they called us to collect it so I dropped my partner off to pick it up in my car (also a recent second hand bargain). I parked near a cute little VW beetle and mentioned that I’d always wanted a beetle. I then drove home and left him to collect our car and follow me back. By the time he got back, he’d bought the beetle for me.
He’d noticed after getting out of the car that it looked like it had been parked up for a while (flat tyres and cobwebs) and mentioned it to the girls on the desk in the showroom. They told him that it needed some work doing and that the person who had brought it in had decided the work was too expensive and left it in their car park. It subsequently ran out of tax and MOT and had just been sitting there.
They joked that they could put him in touch with the owner if he wanted to buy it and he took them up on the offer. They called the owner and shared my partners number with him and he called him straight away to discuss whether he wanted to sell.
The work that needed doing was something that my partner could do super cheaply as he knew how to fix the issue – the problem with the dealership doing the work was that they’d quoted a fair amount as they would only use VW parts and had added on a lot for labour whereas we could use generic parts and obviously there’d be no labour if we did the work.
We bought it for the cost of a scrap car as the seller was just pleased to have someone take it off his hands and it was fixed within the week and through it’s MOT the following week so I now have a cute little beetle for under £300 in total!
And we’ve been able to give my car to Master Frugal which was an added bonus.
I hate this picture but I’m really trying to be less self conscious about the way I look so I’m sharing it so you can see my Winter woolly hat bargain! I got this lovely knitted North Face hat for £4 and I think I’m going to get so much wear out of it over the Winter.
This next bargain is another photo that I HATE but I’m being brave and sharing it even though it makes me a bit uncomfortable. This is a dress that I bought for Miss Frugal’s graduation but I decided against it at the last minute as I thought it wasn’t ‘formal’enough. I do still love it for a day out though and it was a bargain at £5 considering it came with the original tags on it so was brand new.
The sandals in this picture were bought from Sea Salt so not a pre-loved bargain but they are the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever worn so definitely worth a shout out.
This picture was one I shared on Instagram last week after a work trip to London and I just realised that it was a great one to show you a couple of other pre-loved bargains from this last month or so. I bought the shoes for £4 from a charity shop in the village and the comfy tracksuit bottoms were £2.50 – both were brand new with tags and are so comfy that I decided to travel to London in them which was a great choice.
If you’ve been here a while then the chances are that you’ll already know I’m a huge Vinted fan and that there’s usually not a monthly pre-loved post that goes by without me sharing at least one Vinted bargain. I haven’t bought too much on there lately as I’m feeling a bit out of sorts with myself and not really happy with the way I look in my clothes at the moment but I’ve still managed a few bargains from there.
These two dresses were a bargain at £4 for the black one and £3 for the print one which were bought for our holiday to Lake Garda.
I love them both and they’re a first for me as they’re strapless.
Never before have I dared try a strapless dress but I decided to see if I could get a strapless bra that I felt secure enough in to actually wear and I actually did! It’s a bit big in the cup but it still does it’s job so I’ve been brave and bought a couple of strapless dresses. I can’t decide if I’m totally comfortable in them as they’re definitely out of my comfort zone.
I’ve also bought some nice shirts on there this month for Master Frugal who needed some for work – I got him a lovely Ted Baker one for £3 and a Boss one for £5 which he was impressed with.
If you want to find out more about how to find bargains on Vinted yourself then this how to buy on Vinted post is perfect for you – it’s the perfect place to start if you want to start finding some pre-loved bargains of your own.
Also, I know that money is tight for many of us right now so I did just want to say that usually when I buy anything pre-loved, I try and only use money that I’ve made from things that I’ve sold on Vinted so I rarely pay actual money for anything you see that I’ve bought from there. Here’s a post about how much I made in a weekend selling on Vinted a little while ago to give you an idea!
So that’s what I’ve bought pre-loved this month. I’d love to see your bargains so feel free to tag me in any Instagram posts and I’ll pop over and see what you’ve been buying!
