Nothing too exciting on the menu for this week but you can tell that the weather’s getting colder because the slow cooker is working overtime this week as five out of our seven dinners will be cooked using it!
Last week I took part in bit of a trial of the new Tesco Brand Guarantee which is the initiative that gives you money off your shopping there and then if you could have bought your shop cheaper elsewhere. The Tesco Brand Guarantee will ensure that you never have to pay more for your weekly shop by price matching your branded shop against the price you would pay in Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s and even takes into account offers like ‘buy one get one free’ and ‘buy 2 for £3’.
If your shopping is cheaper then Tesco will now take the money off your shop straight away, rather than issuing a voucher to redeem off your next shop as they used to, so you can be sure that the price you pay is the cheapest price for the branded goods in your trolley. I much prefer this way of doing it as I, like many others according to research conducted by Tesco, always used to forget to hand my vouchers in when I went shopping the next time.
I like shopping in Tesco and usually pick up some great deals in their reduced section especially but for the purposes of the Tesco Brand Guarantee I bought more branded goods than I usually would have done and there’s a few little treats in there too.
The lady who served us at the till seemed genuinely pleased when she told us that we’d saved £3.57 on our shop which I thought was brilliant bearing in mind that I already bought some great multi-buy deals which were already moneysavers!
I was happy with my not so small saving but even if it had been smaller I’d still have been pleased because no matter how small, the money’s better in my pocket!
