Welcome to Wednesday’s Wardrobe!
In case you don’t know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I’ll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah. It’s something I really wanted to get involved with because, as you can no doubt imagine, with an almost thirteen year old daughter, clothes are a big deal here.
I’ve had a bit of a disaster this week.
Actually, I’ve had a few but this is my only clothes related disaster so as much as I’d like to have a good whinge about the rest of my issues, I’ll refrain and stick to the clothes relates one for now. 😉
Picture the scene:
Miss Frugal was getting excited about her first ever hot tub party. She brings her favourite swimsuits downstairs the night before to choose which one she’s going to wear (very big decision you know) and we spend ages deciding which one she wants to wear most. We left them all on the floor while we went to look for her goggles and the poor dog who is very tired from a walk on the beach and a paddle in the sea decided that he absolutely had to have a rest and the best place for his nap would be snuggled on top of the swimsuit pile. Unfortunately, you can imagine that sea, sand and dog do not mix well with swimsuits so into the wash they all went.
All was going well until the power in the house went out (in the middle of Dance Moms no less) so I sent Mr Frugal out to the garage to reset the fuse. He did this and the power came back on for about half a second before going off again. This began a game of switching off plugs one at a time and resetting the fuses in the garage to find out what it was that was tripping the fuse.
Sadly, it was the washing machine and even worse, it looks as though it has died completely. We couldn’t open it as the door is shut due to the fact it’s FULL of water and I didn’t want to drain it using the drainy thing (that’s the technical term) at the bottom in case the water went everywhere as the washing machine is pretty much stuck where it is so I couldn’t get in to dry under it.
You can understand the obvious dilemma that Miss Frugal was facing – not how on earth was I going to wash with no washer or where is the money for a new one coming from. Not at all. She was panicking at the thought of no swimsuit for the hot tub party because by then it was 7.30pm and I was at work the next day so we would have no time to get a new one before she left for the party.
Luckily our local Matalan was open until 9pm so we had an emergency trip there and to her relief, she found the perfect swimsuit:
To my relief it was quite good value too – £10 for the bikini and because it was buy 2 get a 3rd free on swimwear we got another bikini top free too. I’ve posted the pictures from the Matalan site rather than of her wearing it because as lovely as she looks in it, I’m not going to post bikini photos of her on here! It is a lovely bikini though and the photo doesn’t do it justice at all – it’s great quality and looks lovely on.
So there you have it, my fashion related disaster for this week along with a fashion bargain.
