I have an odd question for you….
What do you do on a night, after the kids have gone to bed?
Mr Frugal is a bit of a computer geek which means that four or five nights a week, as soon as the kids have gone to bed, he’ll turn on his computer and that’ll be the last I see of him until about ten o clock time. We have one night a week where we snuggle on the settee and catch up on TV and one date night a week where laptops, mobiles, TV and children are banned.
We used to get a babysitter and go out on date night but now that we’re watching the pennies a bit more, we just put the kids to bed early with a DVD and either make a nice meal together or get a takeaway. Sometimes we play together on the XBox (we’ve played the same game since we met – Bomberman) or play cards or a board game together and sometimes we just sit together and chat.
I’m happy with the way we are and after 11 years of marriage I think we’re lucky that we have the relationship that we do but when I was talking to one of my friends at work about it, she said she wouldn’t stand for her husband playing on his computer that much. I know all couples are different but I was a bit surprised by that to be honest – he doesn’t go out, he doesn’t drink or smoke, he doesn’t watch endless sports (only because we don’t have the sports channels lol) and he does more than his fair share round the house, so why shouldn’t he be able to relax in his own way?
So, back to my original question, what do you do on a night, after the kids have gone to bed and would you be OK with your husband spending so much time on his computer?
