{Updated for 2017}
I know in some houses, leftover chocolate is about as unusual as leftover wine is in this house but we always have lots of chocolate left over after every Christmas and Easter.
Even though we only bought the kids one egg each this year, they still seem to have accumulated a few extra from grandparents, friends and the various clubs they go to but I know they won’t eat them all as they’re not big chocolate eaters usually. I don’t like to see anything go to waste so I’ve been looking through my old posts for ideas for using it up.
Biscuits
Our super easy biscuit recipe would be great dipped in some melted chocolate as would our homemade hobnobs.
Chocolate Bark
We made some Halloween chocolate bark here but you could easily adapt this to make your own version using whatever you have in to use up.
Rocky Road Cake
We haven’t made Rocky Road bites for years but they’re a great way to use up leftover chocolate and sweets as well as any biscuits, dried fruit and nuts or cereal that you want to add in.
Chocolate Sauce
We love homemade chocolate sauce – great as a topping for puddings and ice cream (or just with a spoon when no-one’s looking!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Who doesn’t love a chocolate chip cookie? We love our hot chocolate cookies almost as much as we love Nutella chocolate chip cookies! You can just pop your chocolate into a sandwich bag and give it a good whack to make your own chocolate chips to use in these recipes.
Chocolate Fondue
Chop up lots of fresh fruit (end of day supermarket bargains are great) and add some biscuits and marshmallows and a big bowl of melted chocolate and you have quite possibly the nicest pudding ever.
Cupcakes
Melted chocolate is a great way to ice cupcakes – the one’s in the picture above are melted chocolate with popping candy on top.
No-Cook Chocolate Crunch Cakes
These no-cook chocolate crunch cakes are like little balls of heaven and are great for using up chocolate (or even for buying chocolate especially for).
Crispy Cakes
You can’t beat good old fashioned crispy cakes – especially if you add some popcorn and sprinkles into the mix!
Make a traybake
Break it up and use as chocolate chips in a tray bake or cake. Master Frugal’s specialty is chocolate tray bake and this is what he does instead of us buying chocolate chips usually.
Do you have any leftover chocolate to use up?
