OK, I know it’s only boxing day but I’ve been putting some thought into what my word of the year will be next year and although I’m not going to share that with you until tomorrow, I am going to share some word of the year ideas with you today that might help you choose what your word of the year 2018 is going to be.
I always choose a word of the year and unlike a New Year’s Resolution which is very specific and often forgotten about by the end of January, my word of the year stays with me throughout the year. It’s not a specific goal or target that I want to reach, it’s something I want to apply to all areas of my life.
Does that make sense?
Last year I chose the word shine for a couple of reasons which you can read about in last year’s word of the year post and I applied that to my life during 2017. I celebrated my successes and the successes of the people around me and I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone massively at times. I’ve made new friends, tried new things and overall, I have more confidence in myself and the things I do.
I’ll share my word with you tomorrow but in the meantime, I thought I’d make you all a handy little list of word of the year ideas so you can start thinking about your own word of the year…..
Remember when you’re choosing a word to try and choose one that applies to all areas of your life – the year before last I chose happy and really focused on cutting out as many things that I did that didn’t make me happy as well as consciously choosing to do things that did. This had an impact on all areas of my life because I chose to apply it to everything from blogging to work and from my family as a whole to me as an individual.
I hope you like my little list of Word of the Year ideas – do let me know what your word is going to be in the comments below….
